I ordered a book from Amazon for my grandson on May 16. It was shipped on May 17. It arrived in Raleigh, NC on June 2nd and left the facility on June 2nd. It is headed for Roanoke, VA. It is expected to arrive by June 18.
Does anyone else see a problem with this?
Pony Express would have been quicker! Or, maybe a turtle pulling a sled loaded with mail!
A movie about the book could have been made by this time!

You can pay way way more and get it much faster, you know. Don’t be such a cheapskate. 😉😉

The reality of "distracted living." For those of us who are spatial visualizers where did it originate and where is it ultimately going?

Amazon seems to be overboard on shipping. I have had good results and some really bad and often it depends on where the sender is located. I ordered 3 items on May 2nd and it is still not here. On the 3rd of May it said shipped and I was billed for it. Little did I know it was coming from China.

All depends on when it was “expected” to be delivered by. Not when you expected it, but what Amazon showed as the expected delivery date.

Book rate shipping is very inexpensive, and very slow, it is "non-priority" mail, all ground/truck shipping. I've used it whenever I want to ship cheap and am not worried about how long it takes to get there. If in a hurry the regular package shipping is as quick (sometimes quicker) as anyone else (I'm not including folks like Amazon who have warehouses all over now-just the ways you can ship from home) and the USPS express shipping is fast, but it does cost more. BAM and other book sellers typically use "book rate" shipping, but it is slow and it is cheap. I mailed a camera book to another member this way (from Florida to north east) and it took several weeks, but it got there....regular package ship would have been several days.

So it's the PO and not Amazon that is responsible for the delay. I also find it hard to understand why a package would sit for days at a facility. Maybe the PO is swamped with packages, and they don't have enough trucks or workers to deal with them. It's rare that a package is help up by the PO. I'm receiving a package today that was sent from OH on 5/31. That's not bad for regular, non-Amazon delivery.

Sounds like the paperwork was shipped from here while the package is on a boat from Peking...?

There’s info missing in your post. Did the Amazon page say it was sold and shipped by Amazon or through their Marketplace? If the latter, it was probably sent via media rate by the seller and up to 3 weeks is not unusual, though items often show up faster. Lastly, did you contact Amazon Customer Service? The phone number can be difficult to find on the website, so I usually google for it (amazon customer service phone number). UHH is not going to resolve your issue.

Read the warnings that all the services display...due to Covid 19 service will be delayed. Apparently with the current crisis, delivery services are committed to insuring that medical supplies enjoy priority. However, with USPS, if you pay for the "Express Next Day Service" your package will arrive as promised. You are not alone, I have experienced extremely slow delivery, even with Amazon Prime. Be happy you are healthy, my friend...

Cheers!

About thirteen years ago, with the help of my new postmaster, I asked about shipping an aircraft main gear. He measured it and said it could go with just a tag through one of the axle mount holes. 38 days later I got a message from the buyer saying it had never arrived. Postmaster Mike called the P.O. nearest the buyers house and inquired about it. Amazingly, it was delivered the very next day!

Mail service can be rather sketchy alright! I ordered an item from Amazon, they said it was delivered on Memorial day. It was promised by the 27th so I waited and checked again still not there. Got a refund from Amazon, ordered a replacement outside of Amazon, got it within 72 hours. On June 5 received the first item from my neighbor who had received it in their mailbox. Now I have two.

FEDEX is no better. I ordered an item from Home Depot last week, and it arrived at the Oak Park, MI FEDEX facility on June 4. It's still sitting there, even though FEDEX stated it would be delivered on June 6. Now FEDEX says delivery on June 12.

Last on June 5, I received a package shipped by B&H on May 18. It was a combo FEDEX/USPS shipment. Filed a tracer with USPS; they closed the next day, and it was still 3 days to my home from 1.5 miles away. Sixteen days in transit?

I understand COVID delays, but FEDEX has provided crappy delivery for the past two years.
