I am from the UK , but have lived in the US for a few years now. When I first arrived I noticed the extensive post processing too. However, i also noticed the bright blue sky, yellow sun, green grass ( Texas) and colorful foliage , things are actually brighter, clearer and more colorful here, England is grey , cloudy and a more muted pallet.
So that may be one factor.

I tend to agree with this assessment. I lived in England for six months and I swear it seemed like it rained every day even if briefly. Couple that with the British propensity for understatement coupled with America's reputation for over the top type displays, enthusiasm, and culture and you have a ready explanation for the different approaches to post processing. While the UK and America have a lot in common, there are a some big differences as well as noted here.

Thanks for a reply that actually fits. Most of the HHs above are just grumpy, or would prefer something simple for a contest, like "a picture of an apple" or "a picture of a building."

The contest seems to me to allow for a very wide range of subjects, but must show some change or growth or decay. Those attributes are ones that can make a picture very interesting. Several possibilities come to mind: a graveyard, a burned-out building, a junkyard, a growing garden, a wilted garden, a wilted flower, a birth, a death, a confirmation, a wedding. Particularly interesting in the contest language is asking for showing some philosophical change, and I'd have to think about how to show that.

I suppose I'll get some blow-back from this.

My take: "...it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing"

Couldn't say it better. WS certainly knew how to turn a phrase.

The blending work along the horizon is crude and amateurish (AI). Take a close look at the tree/shrub just right of center on the horizon.

Luminar 4 is a parametric editor but exhibits some very surprising behavior more typical of a raster editor. Any cloning/healing work done in Luminar 4 creates what they call a stamped layer which monkey wrenches your processing as it won't update any changes made to adjustments done before the stamped layer. Luminar 4 also supports masked adjustment layers but it rasterizes all masks as they are created. As a result if you create a gradient mask you better get it right first time because you can't re-adjust it later which is shockingly ridiculous -- not ready for prime time.

You can fix the gradient mask, it is a bit clunky but it is possible. See Jim Nix's video on how to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foZBkaysUr8&t=385s

I think TN is a shameless, self-promoting tool. Always ready to stir up controversy, often producing word-salad in defense of his proclamations. There is no fact in this latest piece of fiction. I wouldn't go out and short Nikon's stock on this info.

Hi all, Darren Spoonley is a local Landscape photographer, to me anyway, who photographs around Munster.

In this video you will see him capture 3 cracking photographs and also see a little how he works. I don't want to give any spoilers but it is worth watching I promise you.

A name you might want to know after is "Samson"

Thanks for that. 11 minutes well spent.

I have a original version...surprised about yr battery life issue I guess.
Can you turn off the GPS function?

Steve49 makes a good point about the GPS function. I have not experienced any battery problem with my 6DM2 at all, in fact I actually kind of amazed how long it lasts before needing charging. I routinely get 2 days or more of shooting without charging.

There is a setting to disable the GPS when the camera is off.

Fantastic set from this magical place. I also had a wonderful experience at this place with our photo guided tour. Our guide was tremendous and the place was absolutely packed with people at the height of the season in late May.

Once again... not Judy Collins. Song was written by Stephen Sondheim. Just her rendition, also done by Frank and God knows who else.

My UHH family,

I'm in the market for a really good set of ND filters. I'm looking at the LEE 100 82mm Pro kit and the polarizer holder and filter. These things are stupid expensive but the reviews and comments regarding these filters has been really good, in fact, the only negatives that I have read have been about the price.

Let me know your thoughts and comments which are always welcome.

God Bless everyone and Merry Christmas,
A. T.
