But if I had to gamble it surely would NOT be on a Seagate! I think they suck!

Now don't shy, tell us what you really think!

I thought I was quite clear!.....NK72,..you are the photo guru here, and I respect that(a lot).....
Conversely,....I "AM" a PC geeeek!...and I said what I believe.

Look at it like the Nikon vs. Canon comments Don. Can't let it get to you.
I had a WD 500GB drive that was losing segments like a sieve! Found out the warranty was still in effect and they sent me a brand new one along with free transfer software. That one is still in my computer today, nothing against WD at all. I have the Seagate portables because they were less than 1/3 the price of the smaller capacity WD portables, no other reason. I won't use Gateway or Compaq computers because I think they are crap, but I doubt Gateway or Compaq owners will agree with me. I have found people sometimes defend their purchases to the death to justify their decisions as being correct, whether they were or not. ie a few Canon owners here as an example.
Don't sweat it, have a good nights sleep and go burn up some gigabytes tomorrow!

We have a few around here like that, not so many as Alaska I'm sure.

Moose are coming into Anchorage by the loads! The mountains and hills have such deep snow they are coming into town more than normal and being hit by cars and harrassed by neighborhood dogs...and there are more incidents of people/moose attacks..

We are also planning similar trip. Minnesota, Niagara ,over through upper part of New York Vermont Mass. Taking rout to see covered bridges, museums and notable places, and Independence Hall, Blue Ridge Parkway , too many places to mention here. All of these places should be great places to photograph. I think we are looking at about ten weeks. If you are going to be anywhere near these places there should be amle opportunity for use of your camera. Looking forward too this trip.

OK everyone...am planning an auto trip this summer. Starting in northern CA....heading to Maine, with stops planned at MT Rushmore and Niagra Falls. Then heading south to loop thru Nashville, Memphis, Oklahoma City, Vegas and San Diego.....then back home. Taking my recently purchased Canon T32i. My question: any suggestions of other good photo stops along this route? Thanx so much in advance.

Going to Hawaii(Kailua-Kona) for four weeks in March-April time frame. Hope to see volcano activity this time. Was there for four weeks last year and no volcano activity while we were there . Been to lots of places from coast to coast, would go to most of them again.

I have the D5100 from Costco for almost $1000.00 and haven’t seen a better deal yet on this camera, especially including the 55-300 lens. Very happy with it. quote=MT Shooter]

My local Costco has the D5100 2 lens kit in stock for $1049.95 WITH the Nikon 55-300mm VR lens instead of the 55-200mm. The 55-300mm lens is a MUCH better lens! It has everything but the tripod in the kit. You can get a very nice tripod and ball head for the extra $150 that way.

I bought the COSTCO kit for about $1000. BJs is closer, but I liked the idea of the 55-300 better than the 55-200. Love the camera.
You will pay the tax on the full price because the $200 is an instant rebate.
MT Shooter, I put this here because I wanted to support your post. Hope you don't mind.

Why should I mind? This is an open forum and is all about opinions. I have not heard from one person yet who did not agree and claimed the 55-200mm was a better lens. The 300 version does cost more, but is well worth the investment, but thats just my opinion again.
Oh, and I thank you for your support. (After all, this is another election year!)[/quote]

I had a camera replaced by my homeowners, I had been stolen.
Nikon_DonB wrote:
I'd stick with just the Nikon warranty. They build pretty sturdy stuff. Use the extra dough for spare batteries, lenses, filters and the like.
Plus, I'm sure your homeowners will cover your photo equipment up to a certain limit or you may have to add a "rider" to the policy. That will be much cheaper than a specific 1 piece warranty....Good Luck
