If you could spend two weeks anywhere in this country doing nothing but photography where would you go?
For me I would go to the 4 corners area. Have been there before and just love the land, the color.
Wyoming, the mountains are this best this side of the Alps.
Maine/New Hampshire/Vermont

Sedona & Grand Canyon hands down for me!
"BACK TO ALASKA"...................
I don't think two weeks would be long enough. All of the Hational Parks.
Interesting question. I've driven across the US several times, and photographed some parts (mostly Civil war battlefields) quite intensively. You have to assume 'all expenses paid', too, in order to make it a choice based on pure enjoyment and visuals.
Probably, because I prefer 'the hand of man' to (mostly faux) wilderness, California's Gold Country. Or maybe even New York City.
EDIT: But I have to admit that I'd rather go back to India. Or Malta. Or Greece... Perhaps we could have a subsidiary question: first, yours, inside the USA, and second, where people would go outside the USA.
For Malta, see

Spent many a day in North Conway, NH (before it turned into outlet city) and the Northeast Kingom of VT. The Newport area of Vt is still my favorite place to visit within a 5 hr drive.
I concure, The 4 corners area could keep you shooting for a year and never take the same place twice.
Alaska and then Hawaii for the volcano. Even if there is no volcano active at the time,....its still Hawaii!
USA?
Well since I live right here and can be here anytime, ill leave home out.
I think I would go to the west coast for a few weeks.
Out of the country? someplace new....maybe croatia or Israel.
Roger...did you ever see the movie POP EYE...it was filmed on the island of Malta....ever since I saw that Ive been thinking about getting there.

Go to
http://www.rogerandfrances.com/subscription/pst%20malta.html and about a third of the way down, you'll find a picture with this caption:
"Anchor Bay is towards the north of the island, on the east coast opposite Mellieha Bay. The Popeye Village ('Sweetwater') is a tourist attraction in its own right. As far as we are concerned, there is only one reason to go there, and a very good one it is: beautifully cobbled-together clapboard, shingled and tin-roofed houses, an unexpected paradise for photographers. We disdained to go there for quite a while. We were wrong"
It is NOT typically Maltese, but that's only because Malta is always, only and forever, itself, and endlessly visually stunning.

The canyons of southern Utah -- mainly because I've never been there. Pacific Coast Highway gets honorable mention.
As for non-US venues, there's too much to chooose from. But if I could only pick one spot, I guess it would be Istanbul -- because when I was there on previous occasions I wasn't into shooting and because it's got incredible architecture.

PCH is however unreasonably hard to photograph (I used to live there, south of SLO) while Istanbul is unreasonably easy. I didn't like the place, and still got a lot of good pictures. Would I go back... Hmm. A conflict between not liking the city, and getting disproportionately many good pics.

Alaska starting at the Gates of the Arctic moving south thru Denali...on down to the Kenai Peninsula...over to Katmai....back down to Southeast (Haines, Juneau, Wrangell, Petersburg, Ketchikan). Would probably run out of time while still in the Gates of the Arctic. If given another couple of weeks the time would be spent in Utah's parks.
