Back in the North East US we have one situation most other areas of the country do not have. Row Houses. Some of these row homes are a block long. When they were first built the residents would take public t***sportation or if lucky enough to own a car, the family would have ONE car. Today some of these homes have a car for each parent and maybe two more for late teen drivers. Sometimes a person has to park half a block or more from their residence. It won't at times be possible to get a car close enough to where the owner lives to even use a charging station. And if the family has four cars who is going to stay up at night switching out cars to get each one to the charging station? And won't it be lovely to drive down a street of row homes and have a charging tower in front of each home! I can't see that adding to the curb appeal of these homes. I think the answer to this would be to put the charging stations in the ground with only a 12" dome that could be raised to plug in the charging line. The more we discuss this on UHH, the more negatives we come up with. Think about apartment complexes. A complex of 2500 apartments would require a huge investment in infrastructure remodeling. I think it will be many years before a family would set out on a 1000 mile trip in an electric vehicle. Before we go all electric I think we will see most two car families have one electric and one gas auto. They will use the electric around town and short trips of 100 miles or less and use the gas powered car for long trips. I'm 72 and do not expect to see an all electric motor pool in my lifetime.

When gasoline powered cars were first built, there were no gas stations. Somehow we found a way to make them universal. I am sure we can find a way to do it again. This constant argument of how electric powered cars will never work is very reminiscent of conversations held 100+ years ago. We found a way to increase oil production to power our cars. I'm sure we can find a way to increase electricity production as well and I'm sure we can also find a way to deliver it no matter where you live.

They had no problem affording gasoline tractors and combines to replace their horses.

The first image is just after a colorful moonrise. I planned to take an image of the eclipse phases every 15 minutes and came close but not precisely. The last image is a composite of a lunar eclipse taken during a previous eclipse in January 2019. I intended to post it in 2019 but did not. I hope you enjoy and thanks for viewing.

Really nice, Dan. Are you getting ready for your solar eclipse next year? Should have a super view of it there. My wife and I are planning to go to Rockport next year to see it.

With your screen name you might want to check out the National Bison Range just a little while south of Glacier. Lots of bison, elk and pronghorns there as well as some bighorn sheep.

So here's something that's been pissing me off for years!
I like yogurt. I enjoy the flavors, and it's a good healthy thing to consume. But, (and I'm assuming most of you have already noticed), some of the manufacturers, ("Yoplait" springs to mind), put "false" bottoms in the containers, (quarter to a half inch), so looking at it on the shelf, it looks like you're going to get, more than you actually do. I wonder, is there a reason for this "false bottom" or is it really a rip-off, still trying to fool us? When I purchase cans of beans, or cartons of cottage cheese for example, the contents extend and fill right down to the base, as it appears from the outside. Is it only yogurt companies that do this, and is there actually a valid reason, am I missing something, or is it just another way to rip us off? So, again, just wondering. It's really not an expensive item to begin with, but collectively, these items add up, and the bottom line is that I don't like to be ripped off, if that's what it is. (paying for something that visually looks larger than what it actually contained). So there you go, something new to ponder, and perhaps comment on, stay safe y'all, and have a great day,
Ray.

It has nothing to do with deception. Yogurt as well as Ice Cream will collect moisture on the bottom from condensation. The ridge prevents it from possibly soaking through the cardboard bottom and degrading the contents or having the bottom fall out when you pick it up.

I would like to buy one that is not so touch sensitive that the shadow of my finger tips activate the keys😕. The previous one I had was Microsoft. I tossed that one because of over sensitive keys. There are only two stores in my area that carry computer supplies. Both carry various brands, but neither offer open box units for customer testing. And of course sales persons had no knowledge of the particular product characteristic I am looking for. Thus, I bought a Logitech model that was as bad as my previous ones. Have kept it for a couple of years and now want to see if there is a model that has a less touch sensitive characteristic. I touch type but I need my fingers resting lightly on the keyboard. As of now, I am correcting typos by the dozens.
Any advice re a suitable keyboard will be appreciated.

Don't know what model of Microsoft you had but I am using a Microsoft wireless keyboard 3000 v2.0 Model 1379 and as others mentioned I also rest my fingers on the keys. Never had any problem with keys activating. In fact I just tested and even when I gently tap my fingers on the keys, nothing happens. Don't know how old it is - Amazon has one for $64.99 with free delivery (keyboard - mouse combo). Amazon didn't give the model # so don't know if it is exactly the same.

You can put it on speakerphone and possibly get the victims family to say goodbye at the same time you are taking the pictures?

Good plan! I never thought of that!!

There's always time for both.
1. Get into a good position, noting what is in the background.
2. Depending on how much the victim is moving, you may have to choose a higher shutter speed - or ask the person to stop moving so much.
3. Don't get too close to the victim because you'll want to include enough of the surroundings to set the mood. There will be plenty of time to move closer after you've taken several dozen shots from different angles.
4. Experiment with different ISO, shutter, and aperture settings.
5. When you've gotten your shots, it's time to save a life! Turn no your cell phone and dial 911.
6. Get comfortable and wait for the arrival of the first responders to get more great shots.
7. The next time you go for a walk, bring a waterproof camera. That way, you can take pictures and save a life at the same time. It's tough having to make choices about which to do.

But what if you are using your phone to take the pictures? You might miss some good ones while you're dialing 911!!

Good morning Greg,

As one other UHH'er stated - "stupid question" (?) - absolutely NOT! It is humor in one of its' finer forms. A somewhat dour intro with a subtle and clever twist at the end taking one by complete and laugh inducing surprise. Classic British humor seen since the 15th century if not slightly earlier.
I have been grammarian my entire life with a special, although slightly twisted, interest in humor.

All the best to you and yours,

Terry

FINALLY!! Someone (Jerryc41) gets annoyed by the same things that annoy me. It's vs its is another one. It's easy to use the correct version in its place! It's means "it is." With that translation, you should never go wrong. Further, I vs. me; she vs. her--these are just as basic. "I gave she a bath." Really?

I don't understand the problem here. I would really enjoy giving she a bath!

Actually, NASCAR only quit using carburetors in 2011, long after street cars had gone to fuel injection.

You are correct - I just checked Indy cars. NASCAR banned fuel injection until the 2012 season.

It is a simple old-school (Hot Rod) command to ‘carbohydrate’ your engine; which means to hydrate (add fluid to) the carburetors.

Could be - but carburetors haven't been used in race cars in over 50 years.

Guess I'm a contrarian - I think there is plenty of good music today. In fact much better than most of the rock from my high school days (graduated in 1960). I did like it at the time but most of it now just sounds like teeny-bopper junk. Here are just a few of my favorites of today across several genres - Hayes Carll, Sturgill Simpson, Kronos Quartet, Mary Gauthier, Shovels and Rope, Over The Rhine, Rhiannon Giddens, Robert Earl Keen, The Bottle Rockets, Roseann Cash and dozens of others.
