Heading out to Glacier National Park and Missoula at the end of June.
Any suggestions for photographing places off the beaten path? or hidden gems. Thanks.
With your screen name you might want to check out the National Bison Range just a little while south of Glacier. Lots of bison, elk and pronghorns there as well as some bighorn sheep.

You might want to try
Garnet Ghost Town and easy drive from Missoula.
If you are heading north from Missoula at the end of June, you may want to consider the 4th of July pow wow at Arlee. Driving north, as mentioned above, you have the opportunity to visit the National Bison Range. As you pass over Ravalli hill, you will encounter a spectacular view of the Mission Mountains. You may want to stop at the historic Catholic Church in St. Ignatius. You will have a number of opportunities to capture Flathead Lake as you travel either along the west or east shores of this beautiful freshwater lake. Picturesque Bigfork may be a stop for you to have lunch. As you head to Glacier, consider stopping at Hungry Horse Reservoir for a few photos. Enjoy your trip, Glacier should be nice and green with many view points along the Going To The Sun Highway.

Take your passport, and visit Waterton Lakes NP, in Canada, Lots of photo ops on that side of the border, also! You said out of the way...
If you hike, go to Cracker lake. A relatively large glacial lake in a cirque made it one of the beautiful you will ever see. Part of the trail is on a horse path but one you get past that, a good hike-at the most-medium. Also not may people. see google images.
I grew up in Missoula and can offer quite a few suggestions. Not exactly sure what you're looking to shoot (landscapes, wildlife, etc) or how much hiking you want, but there are many great places. Check out the Swan Valley drive on the way to Bigfork or Blodgett Canyon south of Missoula for a nice hike. Holland Falls and Morrell Falls are also in the Swan Valley and are beautiful. I'm heading there in July..love MT. Feel free to PM me with questions.
