Very nice sequence! I see that action played out from my window regularly but haven't been in the right place or right time to try to photograph it. I doubt that I'll get as good a shots when I do.

These are wonderful pictures and well chosen--they take me back to one of our best trips ever.

I wonder if they have lens limitations in place now? We went a few years ago and they had a technical limitation of 200mm. If you had over that they charged you professional fees $$$. I got conflicting information so I actually bought a 70-200 lens to take for that trip. Turned out I wouldn't have needed it as the zoom seems to have stayed under everyone's radar. I would have liked at least a 300mm for some of the shots but it's also critical to have a wider lens too. Just asking in case anyone else is going.

Also loved the description of your trip--very similar to ours. One other thing is to remind anyone going that it's best to stay in the town and to get up there right as the park opens so you'll be done by the time the tourist hoards arrive.

Great advice given here so I will not try to duplicate. From my perspective I'd go as late as possible keeping in mind the early winters in that area. By all means try to go after Labor Day--before then the main attraction is watching tourists make fools of themselves and causing traffic jams. At least that's my experience. But the later you go be sure to watch the weather and dress accordingly.

One comment about Jackson Hole--while in the '60s it was a great hole to crawl away and hide in now it's an upscale resort town and a foodie's paradise so there are a lot of choices for eating. But you can't beat the location.

The south and west towns have been mentioned but to the north are Bozeman and Livingston which have a variety of accommodations and are still close enough to the part to go every day. (I like them from the old Rancho Deluxe days.) Cody is to the east but a bit far for every day visiting the park.

While viewing wildlife keep an eye out. Yes they want you to keep your distance. Last time I was there we were all standing by the side of the road watching the bison in the valley below. I turned around to cross the street to my bike and right there were about 12 more bison just grazing by the cars. I got on my bike and very discretely left the scene but it's amazing and illuminating how big bison are when you're close.

Have fun it's a great park and enjoy your retirement--I certainly am.

The cost of sending/receiving packages is like buying a seat on a plane. Prices vary widely. My favorite is free shipping, of course. Looking on eBay, some items are cheap, but shipping is unusually high. I saw an item for $2.50, rather than $25.00, but the shipping cost was $30. I was about to buy a shirt advertised on UU, but the shipping charge was almost the same as the price of the shirt. I did buy an item advertised here with free shipping, but I have to wait for it to arrive from China. I'll post it (non-photographic item) when it arrives.

I looked online for stamps, and Amazon sells them, but they charge more than the face value. Sixty stamps cost $47.95, which is almost $0.80 per stamp. The USPS charges $1.30 to deliver a book of stamps, so you have to decide if $1.30 is worth driving to the PO and waiting on a line.

Actually the USPS also mails stamps--we got ours in about two days.

Here's my two cents. First, most of the information overload is to fill up space and time for the media--that brings profit. Second, The actual numbers don't matter to us because it's pretty obvious that a lot of people are sick and a lot of people are dying. (It may be right for the government or health organizations to keep some sort of statistics to be used later to analyze what went right and wrong--but now it doesn't matter.)

Only two general policy approaches seem worth the debate--public health and economic health. The rest of the nut cases are irrelevant and only work to set forth nut-case individual paranoid positions such as gun control, government conspiracy and which country the virus came from. Those other approaches are counter productive, irrelevant and should have died in the marketplace of ideas--but, see above, they sell for the media even as they distract from the real issues.

OK, so there is lots of evidence that people are sick and dying and there is generally an approach (quarantine, identification and social distancing) used to control this in the population. That seems to work to the degree it is followed by different political entities. The second is the economy. (Disclaimer--I am not a fan of the US economic philosophy that has developed over the past 30 or so years but I accept that we need some type of commerce and employment to survive as a people.) Generally we can't survive with businesses shut down but the more businesses open before we control the public health aspects of the virus the more people who will be sick and/or die.

So the equation is how many people we are willing to sacrifice to reach an acceptable balance. I don't have that answer but even though I like simple solutions there are none in this case. I just hope that we strive for a workable balance.

I had mixed results with non-Nikon batteries for my d7100. I tried several and none of them gave the same performance as the Nikon batteries but a couple at least worked as backup (which for me was OK). However, I eventually just bought a couple more Nikon batteries and always had enough juice to shoot.

At 73 best second childhood ever. No parents to set curfews or otherwise keep me in line, no need to go to work but still have money for food, clothing, shelter and entertainment. Except for a few pesky aches and pains etc. I'm having the time of my life. (Of course, I enjoyed all the other ages too.)

Meaning no disrespect I believe your analogy is all wet unless I am missing something here. One person peeing could not necessarily pee on everyone unless he tried to do that. Even still it would not reach everyone. Clothing makes no difference even if your analogy is correct. Wet is wet.

I wear a mask and yes it does protect others from me to a point. It protects nobody if I open an infected door and then write a check at a bank with someone else going to use that very pen.

My apologies if I am missing something.

Dennis, you make a good point. What I think is missing is the idea that there is no silver bullet/magic wand just a bunch of practices that are intended to slow the spread of the infection in the population. So anything you can do in a practical sense, like wear a mask, reduces one avenue of infection. Same with washing your hands, etc. after touching stuff you have no control over. It's hard for me to do but I try my best--I even carry my own pen.

Hold on to it for a bit. I read that they were considering not requiring surviving spouses or children to return those checks. That was not official at the time I read it but it was a quote from someone in the government. I suspect there will be more information coming after they make a policy decision.

This would be ironic because I prosecuted a number of people who didn't return their spouses/parents social security checks (although usually they neglected to do so for years).

I second that--any artificial smell makes me sick. Only started as I got older but it's real. I can't even walk into a candle shop with my wife.

I think it all comes down to whether your receive any payments from the government directly to your bank account. I always get my tax refunds by direct deposit and I got my stimulus check a couple of weeks ago. If not it's going to take them longer to figure out where to send your paper check or to get a bank account from you. This involves a LOT of people so you'll have to be patient--we have systematically downsized most federal agencies so they don't have the manpower to do this stuff manually in a very timely manner.

There is a way to kick start this process. I don't remember how it works but our US Representative had it on her website so I'd start there.
