Thanks for both the image and the chuckle.

LR has had camera calibration and the ability to create a custom profile since the beta in 2006. What are you referring to?

Gene, I am referring to the Profiles available in the Basic Panel of the Development Module, not specific or custom camera calibration profiles. Adobe added Profile selections (at least for my use of DNG out of camera) of Adobe Color, Landscape, Portrait, and Vivid (plus numerous Artistic, B&W, Modern, and Vintage) in addition to the Adobe Standard and Embedded that have been there for many previous versions. Unlike Presets, Profiles apply their adjustments, but leave all the sliders in their unadjusted position. Perhaps folks in the Canon or Nikon universe have had some of these options previously, but for those of us who use native DNG raw files, they are relatively new.

I use them all the time, but only as a starting point for further processing.

Likewise. Prior to LR introducing Profiles, I got much the same results, but now I get to them faster.

The version I am considering has a 512gb SSD 16 g of Ram and i7 processor. It will run me roughly 2000 which is why I want to know how it actually works. It seems like it would work great based on specs. Plus, it has a 4k hd monitor with 100 percent Adobe color spectrum.

I bought the 13" XPS touch screen (not 2-in-one) version almost 2 years ago also with 512GB SSD, i7, 16GB RAM. I am very pleased with it. It runs LR and PS quite well - not as fast as my 8-core desktop, but is convenient to use and travels with me on all my trips. You might want to look at the screen resolution on the 2-in-one version. At the time, it was less than the touch screen version of the 13" - if that matters to you.

If you are a Costco member, you might check out what they offer in XPS - that's where I purchased mine and it came with an additional year of warranty.

It might take a little longer to scan for interest, but considering that many post subject lines don't really capture the intended subject, this might help. I suggest that the title-only option be maintained.

Please keep sharing. Your images reveal a good eye and are far from boring.

Thanks for the quick response. I was afraid that "exporting" was the only solution, but unfortunately it's a major annoyance to have to jump back and forth between Lightroom and another program, such as Shutterfly. As an alternative, could I set up another folder outside of Lightroom and export a few dozen (or a few hundred, or thousand) edited photos at the same time? Then I wouldn't have to return to Lightroom every time I wanted to retrieve an edited picture. For example, could I export all of my flagged pictures, or my "two-star" pictures at one time?
Thanks for the quick response. I was afraid that ... (show quote)

Yes, you can Export as many images as you would like at one time to a folder for uploading to Shutterfly or any other web app. We do it all the time for book creation or posting to my daughter's family album.

If you got a new computer, you'd be hard pressed to get significantly better specs.

Find a good local computer guy and have him make it right.

That's a good suggestion, unless the OP feels confident in delving into it themselves. Other good suggestions are to check the system BIOS to make sure the computer is actually making use of all its resources at their full rated speed, cleaning up the system or reinstalling Win10, and making sure that the software being used has no specific hardware limitations (or quirks) that are being ignored. You have plenty of horsepower despite the age of the system.

You may shoot any way you wish, from full Auto to full Manual and any mode in between. However, in so doing you are ceding most creativity to the camera and its programmers. To fully take advantage of any camera, control of aperture for depth of field, shutter speed for freezing or blurring action, and ISO for noise is desired by many users. However, if you like the results you get consistently on Auto, that's what matters. Yes, you can get great photos on Auto, but only if the Auto settings agree with your vision or intent for the photo. Post production can only go so far to making an image better. It can't generally change depth of field, focus point, slow shutter blur, or composition.

In the Library module at the bottom of the viewing window, click the down arrow on the right to make sure that "Sorting" is checked. Once it is, you can select to sort in various ways, one of which is "Capture Time".

Just for the hell of it. I opened PS. In the General Section, the Disable Home Screen" is not present. It is up to date.

I'm running Release 20.0.1, which as of this AM is the latest available to me via Creative Cloud. The Preferences panel is found under Edit and you may have to scroll to the bottom of the list to find it. It appears as shown in the attachment.

Open up PS Preferences. In the General section, there is an option to "Disable the Home Screen". Make sure this in NOT checked. Note that if you change this setting, it will not take effect until the next time you start PS.
