Funny I am a resident in Maui I own property there and all 17 of my closest friends there who have a medical card (I do as well) never received the notice you spoke of, oh and I own 5 guns which are registered also no notice there either. You asked about Marinol a few posts back I was given it in its strongest strength and had absolutely no relief from pain, any of the synthetic drugs seem to either have bad side effects or do not work near as well as the original produce ie; hydrocodone, oxycodone, morphine, demerol, dilaudid(that generic one almost killed me a few years ago) and more create allergic reactions make you sick to your stomach cause higher blood pressure etc. marijuana is a natural pain reliever with no additives if controlled(which it is from the places I get it through. It is less harmful than cigarettes though there is still bad ingested if smoking, my wife uses it under a doctor recommendation for her diabetes this is recent and just last week her medications were reduced as the severity has diminished, I went through an alcohol treatment in 1986 and have remained off alcohol for all these years knock on wood and I was a very bad alcoholic drank a case of beer and most of a bog bottle of brandy per day marijuana I believe is on of the reasons I am still off it as the urges are reduced with use I never drive while on my marijuana medication as the effects are far more intense than smoking, I drove all the time while drunk I am extremely lucky that I am alive and never killed or hurt someone while driving drunk I am ashamed as well as I fully believe driving drunk is as bad as holding a gun on someone. Marijuana also helps cancer especially in young folk I know this as I stated before that I have friends who are treating their child and are seeing the results. How about what it does for folks with ms, cramping constantly and so much more the main ones that are railing against legalization is big pharma, the private prison system(these were the top 2 in the fight to legalize in Arizona and the issue barely failed next time hopefully more will listen to reason than hate ads) no one has been documented ever from dying of an overdose of pot, can you say the same about any other drug?. You need to look at this with a fully open mind, yes some will abuse anything and drive and end up hurting or killing others,
so it is with every drug. There is no need for you to look at the issue with the 1930's paranoia,
the studies have been going on a long time and are getting more information daily now that it's legal in many states, it is also helping the economy of these states. I hope that no one you care for comes down with a malady that might be treated with marijuana over the plethora of legal drugs that might harm them in the long run or worse get them addicted as so many others have.

There are many ramifications that are involved with this drug and there are sinister people that will use this as an advantage to take away even your most basics of rights. Do not be deceived and think all is well because there are people that want to control you. Now some will say that I do not own a gun so I am not concerned but in spite of your overlooking everything it does involve you. Maybe not today but your children. Regardless of your views one marijuana and gun control there is a need for you to be concerned. The following is a comment taken from another site:

In December of 2017, police in Hawaii sent a notification to everyone on the island, ordering all legal gun owners who carried legal medical marijuana cards to turn in their guns immediately.

Regardless of what your stance is on medical marijuana, it’s glaringly obvious that the bigger problem here is how easily law enforcement can find gun owners and take away their only weapons of defense. And it’s all because these unsuspecting Hawaiians filled out Form 4473.

And they also want your doctors to fill out forms of people on certain medications for the same purpose. Even though the drug you take may not even be for the purpose that they describe (most drugs can be used for more than one purpose) they will use it as an excuse to control you. It is not about gun control. It is about controlling you.

well I have known a few and none of them denied they were addicted and in trouble they just did nothing to help themselves out of that rabbit hole, if you do not like pot well thats ok do not use it or associate with those who do but denying patients a medicine that is so much less harmfull and helps folks with so many medical problems (marijuana can be used to treat so many things that to deny folks this option would be a shame so many more would be taking not only opiates but other drugs such as barbiturates, valium adderall(don't know if that's spelled right) ask as many medical professionals as you can which is better for you and works before becoming hardened to the idea that its a bad choice I have and the almost entire consensus is that marijuana has healing properties and a use in the medical field. I do not agree with young people using it as they need to be informed and aware of all effects, but if a doctor prescribes it to children with the parents administering it as they would cough medicine and other drugs prescribed to children that is a good thing I know 3 people whose children have it prescribed and they swear by it, the mainstream medicine that was prescribed in those cases were reduced by over half the dose and its working.

It is crazy here we worked all these years for legalization and now many are bitching about it. It has been given such a bad rap over the years that people are fearful of it. I never drive while on it and believe that it should be regulated the same as driving while intoxicated though if you look deeper into the reports of accidents most of them also have elevated levels of alcohol, and hard drugs which most likely are the main cause.
I think it is a fantastic medicine(I used to use it strictly for the purpose of getting a buzz many years ago)
I now use edibles for pain relief though it does not work for every pain it works wonders for most,
it helps ptsd I am able to handle crowds much better, the VA has been giving me some of the most addicting and dangerous drugs for many years and still wants me on them but I refuse the scrips as I can manage much of this with pot and my body thanks me for it. I was given phenetole patchs 6 years ago they just about killed me they were so strong, then oxy, luckily I am allergic to it, then morphine in a large dose until 8 months ago.
That dos not include the drugs I have been given for mood and nightmares valium is one of those and I took it with whatever the doctors at the VA were using at the time, I still do have a mild mood and nightmare drug but the dose has been reduced considerably. Oh and sex is great on marijuana.

I'm amazed at the negative comments about the legalization of marijuana in California. Abuse of alcohol causes violence and traffic deaths, yet it has no benefits. People who drive while high can also cause traffic deaths, but pot has proven medical benefits. Consider the millions of dollars wasted by law enforcement pursuing pot users. Among of the supporters of pot laws is the for-profit prison industry and the politicians who support it. It's to the benefit of both of them to get as many people as possible into prison, so decliminalizing pot is going to hurt them financially.

meth, painkillers, alcohol, and mental illness.

I have never cleaned any of my Nikons that way. Usually I simply put them in the dishwasher and set it for Pots and Pans. It comes out perfectly clean once the steam residue dries out. The Nikons are built so tough that they are not affected negatively in the least.

best thing to do is research the reviews and the lens that comes with the kit you can google everything included in the kit and find many photos and descriptions os the equipment then if you are satisfied buy it.

Right. Not a new member and not complaining about B&H specifically on this one. I feel all the retailers are not sufficiently transparent on an issue that is unknown to naieve buyers.

I do think Nikon’s kit picture is deliberate deception by marketing people.

Gray or not it is a nice lens at a good price I would not worry so much about the warranty as you can return to b&h I believe for 90 days if you think there is something wrong with the lens. If you take good care of it the lens will outlast a few cameras (which then I would want the USA warranty). Go forth and take some great shots with it.

B&H Photo advertise a Nikon 55-300mm open box lens for $250.00 being that I was looking for a long lens I bought the lens, and the lens is now in transit. I called B&H today to ask some questions about the lens and was told that the lens was a GRAY MARKET lens. B&H sales rep did not tell me when I ordered the lens that it was a gray market lens nor in their advertisement was it mentioned that this lens was gray market.

Through out all of the years that I was dealing with B&H Photo I was always under the impression that B&H only dealt USA products.

A word of caution to you whenever you deal B&H Photo make sure that the product that your purchasing is USA warrantee. Now I don't know what I want to do. Keep the lens or send it back. B&H rep told me that I have a one year warrantee from them.

How long are Nikon warrantees on lenses ?

I have both and they all work great no problems MT (he also shoots Nikon as I recall) is right the best place to check up on this sort of information is the manufacturer's website in this case Nikon they have all the affected numbers listed and tell you how you can resolve the issue if there is one.

Hi all. Was looking to get an additional battery for my D7200 and wondered who has used the EN-EL15a with this camera. I'll most likely use this in my grip to extend battery time and want to be sure it will communicate properly with the camera. The Nikon website says it is compatible but real-world experience is always the best guide.
I could, of course, just get the older EN-EL15 version, but like most of the folks on UHH, we seem to want to the "latest and greatest". I did look up the previous comments but was hoping there might be some new info.
Thanks and Happy New Year to all!

Ok, for my New Year's resolution, I resolve too check more closely what gear I'm taking with me when I leave to an event. New Years Eve we had a nice dinner/ dance at our Veterans of Foreign Wars post (in Albuquerque, 30 miles from my house). We were going to be at a table with 3 or 4 other couples so I wanted to take my 6D and just one lens that would be flexible enough for a variety of shots (also had my Speedlite with a defuser). The lens I decided to take was my Canon 24-105 f4L lens. I figured that would be good enough for wide group shots and some more close up personal shots! That was the plan!

Unfortunately, when I got to the VFW and started to put my camera together, the lens that I thought was the 24-105 turned out to be my Canon 135 f2. I had just glanced in my small Targus bag at the house and saw this lens in there, but mistook it for the 24-105. Mind you , it's a great lens, but definitely not the right "single lens" to have at a venue where you are trying to get shots of groups or even individual shots that show more than just a closeup of the person's head! I found myself standing half way across the room just to get decent individual shots of the folks at our table!

D'oh! Lesson learned!

I only store jpegs on a portable drive after I have worked and processed the raw files I want to use. I save my raw files on a seperate portable drive.
steve DeMott wrote:
DSLRs often have the ability to store both a JPEG and a raw file.

Given that the primary benefit of in-camera JPEG over raw is the smaller filesize, and that raw is going to store even more data than jpeg. It seems like you're just wasting space on your card and making your workflow more complicated if you store both.

Why bother storing both JPEG and raw in camera, instead of just a raw file?
