These are the full frame lenses that I have now. If I end up getting a Z6ii and I have these lenses already what if any lenses would you suggest getting with the camera. I know I will need the adapter, but would you suggest getting any of the Z lenses also with the camera body? In my other post about the Z6ii someone said the Tamron 150-600 G1 would not work with this setup but I would probably be using it with my D500 anyway. Any thoughts about this possible purchase would be appreciated. Still on the fence whether to add this to my D500 and D810 or not.

Your D lens will not auto focus. As far as S (Z) lenses I have the Nikon 14-30mm F4, 35mm f1.8, 85mm f1.8, 24-70mm f2.8 and the 70-200mm f2.8 all of these lenses are superior to the G and E lenses for the DSLR's. I also have the D850, D500, D7200, D810, D800 and D4 with high quality glass and comparing them to the S lenses the S lens wins every time.

That's good but are their Z cameras equal to Canon and Sony? Even long time Nikon fanboy Ken Wheeler doesn't think so.

I can't compare manufacturers, however what I read was that part of their financial recovery is due to the sales of the Z cameras and S lenses. Each manufacturers camera has pluses and minuses and every consumer has their preferences, let's just say that it is up to the person behind the camera who can handle their equipment to get the best from it.

I have been using Adobe Lightroom Classic for the past couple of years. Since I do ALL my editing in Photoshop I am seriously considering moving from Lightroom to Bridge.

I use Lightroom simply as a data base to organize my photos, about 8,000 and growing. I do not use anything in Lightroom except what is available in the Library Module and since I am more than comfortable in Photoshop I see no reason to try to learn Lightroom.

Questions: Am I missing something about Lightroom? What?
For you Bridge users why do you continue to use it instead of Lightroom.
Any other comments on why you think I am/am not crazy to make this change.

Everyone has their own method and reasons, I use Bridge, ACR then to Photoshop if needed. I actually started wrong in Lightroom as I moved a majority of my 25,000 images into Lightroom instead of copying them and lost the location and control of the images which Lightroom now handles. The major difference is the automatic cataloging in Lightroom versus the manual cataloging in Bridge otherwise ACR is the same as editing in Lightroom.

Canon is confident about 2021 and the RF system, both for camera bodies and RF lenses. They project a 5% growth in imaging systems in 2021. Demand for the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6 drove sales for Canon in the 2nd half of 2020, both of which greatly exceeded Canon’s sales projections. Both cameras will likely continue to be hot sellers in 2021. There is more EOS R goodness coming in 2021 that will further strengthen Canon’s market share in the full-frame mirrorless space.

What about Sony's new Sony A1 which is poised to overtake Canon.

Basically you are talking about the Z7 II not the Z7 first generation.

You are talking only of the camera division as they have much more than just cameras.

My question is with JPEG photography it is more about your photographic skills. With RAW photos is it more about your technical skills on the computer?...Julian

JPEG is akin to Polaroid and RAW is akin to negatives in the film day. So if you want to do little or no darkroom work shoot JPEG, but if you want to develop your image shoot RAW.

A big factor in dynamic range is the size of the pixels. A larger pixel will have the capability of having a larger dynamic range. From that you could reason that higher megapixel cameras where the pixels are made smaller to pack more in the sensor will have lower dynamic range.

From this I reason that there is a sweet spot for overall digital camera performance of around the 24 megapixel point.

From what I have read this would seem wrong, as an example the Nikon D850 (46MP) has a higher dynamic range than the D5 or D6 (20MP) or the D750 (24MP) in mirror-less the Z7 II (46MP) has a higher dynamic range than the Z6 II (24MP). https://www.adimec.com/dynamic-range-dnr-and-signal-to-noise-ratio-snr-for-ccd-and-cmos-image-sensors/
