While I have had the D5100 only 3 years, I have been wondering if I am 'over-camera-ed' in that I have lugged it along on only 1 of my last 3 trips up the Lake Superior Horth Shore. The thought of downsizing for some time and the comments in this thread have been instructive and constructive. The remarks about body & lense imbalance and controls size have tilted me to keeping the D5100 for now. Lastly, I laid out $850 for the D5100 kit and $150 for the 55-200 mm extra lense, a Nikon though the number escapes me; how much I could get on a trade with Nat Cam Exch would be too painful. The D5100 is 16 Mpixels and most newer DSLRs exceed that, so any hopes of getting anything close to my outlay seems remote. My days of tramping into remote areas in search of that perfect hawk or moose scene are over. So I am degraded from amatuer picture taker to camera owner.

Richard Evans in his "Third Reich at War" chronicles at pages 628-9 the "White Rose" movement. It did not just spring up, but in part was an outgrowth of an earlier group, "League," of the Weimar Republic. I over simplify so that those with the interest will have a reference to examine.

I am thinking about trading my Nikon D5100 for the Canon Rebel SL1. Will I be sorry for what reasons. I bought an extra lens for it and wonder if it would be useable on the Canon. I am pretty much a novice when it comes to a lot of camera judging.

With suitable remote controls we can finally have a proper replacement of

This is my favourite Osprey nest. It is on an extremely high pole which sits on the river bank just on the edge of town. It was a nice sunny day, but the wind was enough to blow a dog off his chain, hence the ruffled feathers. Please feel free to download.

Have you ever noticed any bird of prey that looks disinterested. Your osprey seems to be studying things, like maybe food.

I have a Canon 60d. Looking to purchase some more SDHC cards. My Canon's manual recommends using SDHC card Class10 (which I do).

Now looking at some of the newer Class10 cards, they have a speed(?) rating of 40, 45mbs & higher, opposed to my cards that are rated at 30mbs. Is this higher mbs worth the extra money?

Does this faster rating help in the capturing of the pictures or just the recording of them onto the card itself; (quicker?)(buffering?). I just don't know.

I do strictly photos. I have not and at the present time do not do videos with my camera.

I thank you all in advance for your comments or replies.

May I bend this thread a little bit into manufacturer or brand of memory brand. I recently ran into a dog made by Dane.

Check this out. There are several less expensive versions of this on Amazon, but if you want one that is Apple supported this is the way to go. I purchased one of the knock offs from Amazon a few years ago and have had no issues with it.

Thanks, ALKI7000. I hadn't thought that Kit. It so happens I have one. Got it to use with an iPad 1 and just discovered the memory card connector got the photos into Photo folder. No such luck with the camera connector - could be a camera fault.

Everyone knows the smartphone and tablet cameras leave an awful lot to be desired. But for sending images across to someone, most of these smart devices make that a snap. So when I take the fantabulouse picture can I grease the process (meaning no camera-computer finagling) with a whiz bang gadget. You hook it to the iPad with a USB cable and slip the camera memory card in and you can see all the images and transfer that masterpiece to the photos folder and thence to an email. Any such gadget or toy exist?

This past August, when I was vacationing in San Diego, Ca., I was curious regarding nikon shooters vs. canon shooters. I noticed that there were more nikon shooters(dslr cameras) by a ratio that I calculated to be 4:1. I found that quite remarkable after doing a similar survey in my hometown one busy afternoon in manhattan, NY, where I calculated a ratio of canon to nikon, 4:2! I thought the ratios from San Diego and New york would be very similar. I dunno. Any thoughts on this?

To complete the circle, can someone supply the corresponding statistics for Olympus and Sony.

I have a not small but not large box full of CF cards, because the have not fit or be compatible with any of my most recent cameras: 1st or 2nd generation Canon Rebel and Nikon D5100 and coupla point-shoots. So what kinds of cameras can take CF cards these days. I also have a bunch of Smart Media cards in the same box. My camera stuff drawer seems to be a history of me, sigh.

Do you adhere to the Rule of Thirds when doing family photos or basically photos of people? Sometimes it looks good, but other times if you are taking a group shot, it would not be appropriate. Just asking.

How does the rule of thirds work?

I keep seeing articles talking about Four Thirds. Does this refer to sensor frame size ratio? Need specialty lenses to use effectively. How does it compare to the old film standard of 36 mm by 24 mm image size?

The store should have a record of the sale, so contact them ASAP. You might not need the actual receipt. B&H has a generally good rep, yes no what.
