Thanks for the info. I've bought 3 lenses on ebay and am very pleased with two and looking for a longer one to replace the third.

I have a Sony A6000 and the LAEA-2 adapter. I've been wanting a long lens and found a Tamron 200-500 SP AF Di for $500 at a relatively local camera shop. I took several test shots and the lens seems to work nicely on my camera w/adapter.

The question is, is this a good price for this particular lens?

Anything you want to tell me about it for this particular camera and adapter setup?

thankie,
ron

Clarity, heck yeah. But, if those are related to the puffballs we've gotten in Colorado, they are some of the finest eating you'll find.

That was also my first SLR, and I had the same lens. The tripod it was on fell, and it was beyond repair, so I got another eventually. I sold that a few years ago, but bought another on ebay last year. That was a very nice camera.

I've still got mine. I guess it still works but both lenses have seeped oil or some lub onto the aperture leaves and they work like mo-las-sis in January now. I think the big selling point for me was the removable pentaprism so you could look straight down for those low shots.

Isn't it a shame that Sony makes such pure crap? Seriously, the a6000 is getting a lot of good press. Looking at your pictures, one can see why. How long have you had it and what lens did you use for these photos? I am a Sony shooter.

Oh yeah - I got it around the first of May, this year.

OK, I took OlTrigger's initial post as tongue-in-cheek but most replies seem to have taken it more seriously and try to justify the digital thing. My first and only SLR was a Miranda Sensorex and 135mm tele that cost me almost a month's teacher salary back in the 60's. Fortunately, my wife was also teaching and we could buy beans with her salary. That camera company went belly-up and so I had an unsupported camera until it basically died. Wasn't a good purchase decision it seems. Still, I got a truck load of slides out of that thing that I absolutely never look at. It was a loonng time before I entered the digital age with a Sony-floppy disk model, and I've loved digital ever since. Still can't take good pictures but I do have fun. And, my philosophy with digital is, "take a ton of shots and something is bound to turn out ok". Sure couldn't do that with film. Some of us still need the serendipity thing.

Very nice shot. Are there milk weeds in the vicinity? I understand they are the sole source of food at the caterpiller stage.

Nice.

Macro lens? Extension tubes?

I got a couple of extension tubes for my Sony A6000 and think they are going to work pretty well. Amazingly small FOV though - gonna make me work for good focus.

Thanks for looking.

Actually, I was beginning to think the crap thing was real, but finally realized the crap was behind the camera. Just having cataracts done didn't help in the eval on my part.

The hummer was taken with the 55-210mm kit lens. I had to get up to 1/2000 sec shutter before I got the wings halfway decent. I think the columbine and little squirrel were taken with the same lens (I had just received a mint Sears/Pentax 135 Macro and a Pentax 50mm and was playing around so not sure which was on it), and the moth was taken with the Sears/Pentax. I really like using the manual focus with the two Pentax lenses.

I also got a set of extension tubes that I think will be really nice to use for closeups. And I got a lens reversal ring that, at the moment, would seem to be the only wasted $9 I've spent. I'm having a ball with this camera and my cheap lenses. Oh, also have a Sigma 70-300mm coming that might be a good thing. We'll see. All my extra lenses are off eBay right now.

I also have a Sony HX200V that I haven't touched since the A6000 arrived.

I think I'm beginning to get the hang of this little camera and am liking it more and more. It's taken awhile, but here's a mixed bag.

Well now, I don't agree with those that say it looks better than our robin (guess I'm partial), but you did an excellent job of capturing an obviously beautiful little bird. I hope it has as much positive attitude and spunk as our robin, as that would be a wonderful representation for Britain. Love those little guys.
