I've been buying and selling on eBay for fourteen years, and I finally ran into a minor problem - not a bad record. I have a car for sale, and the price went to $4,200. A couple of days later, the bid disappeared. The next highest bidder lost interest since he was outbid, so he bid on another car, and he has no intention of removing his bid on my car.
I was in a position where it would look as if the car had sold for the reserve, and I would be charged the fees. eBay has simple solution. There is a way for me to withdraw someone's bid, and that's what I did.
If you are ever in a position like this, go to the bottom of the page that lists the bids and click on "cancel bids." Then just follow along till you find a page where you enter the item number, the bidder's name, and the reason for the cancellation.

PayPal is the one to watch out for. If there is an issue, PayPal 99% of the time sides with the buyer. There have been many cases where a buyer receives the package then files a complaint with PayPal, the item is missing, broken or that they never got the package, even with signature confirmation. PayPal refunds the buyers money AND the buyer keeps the package. Seller is cheated with NO recourse. I have read this too many times. It is LEGAL theft.
