No difference in image quality, Don, but a lot less susceptible to damage to all those tiny connecter pins, thank God.

I hear you loud and clear, Don! I learned my lesson with CF cards to the tune of $168.00. Each dollar was very painful! :|

the older CF cards do go bad though Don. get new ones if they are a few years old. you'll notice striaions or lines in certain areas of photos taken in low light.

This is often caused by bent pins in the card reader. I have had no problems with compact flash cards but I only use Sandisk Extreeme cards. I also now use a Sandisk reader and have had no problms with it sense upgrading to it.

I have a Nikon D200 and have never had any issues with the CF memory. I always remove the cf memory to download photos via my pc card reader.

One of the items that I shoot professionally is amateur dance competitions. Basically we work on a swap out system where I give them the card I'm shooting with and they return a second card to me that has been wiped clean of prior images.
I've shot coutless weekends like this with my Canon 7D and have never had any issue with the insertion of the cards in the camera. Additionally, the swaps are typically done in the brief time between dancers so it's not like I've been "super careful" swapping them.
