I recently returned from a visit to Christmas markets in Bavarian Germany. Coming from Florida, it was so nice to enjoy the chilly weather, warm food and drink, and all the color and twinkle of the holiday season. These are some of the photos I took on my iPhone and edited in the Photoshop Express app. I’m still working through the images I took with my travel camera. I hope you enjoy - Merry Christmas, everyone!

Ravenna Gorge, Black Forest region of Germany this is a completely unique place on earth. A Christmas market at the bottom of a gorge with a 130 foot tall viaduct overhead. The viaduct is still in use for trains and many passed over during our visit.

Beautiful - I like the first Luminar sky image best. Stay safe and warm and enjoy the winter wonderland!

I prefer #2. It draws the eye in toward the center of the image and emphasizes the pop of red in the berries.

What a beautiful big baby! I love the XL dogs - my rescue mutt turned out to be mostly Newfie in traits and looks, but definitely mixed with something as he maxed out at about 70 pounds. I called him my mini-Newf.
And my cousin had a 190 lb Great Dane who thought he was a lap dog. Also didn't have his tail cropped so he could clear a table top real fast. Give your guy an extra holiday treat for me!

wow - #2 is just gorgeous! The blurred background has a very artistic quality, with the different colors and patterns from the branches in the top half. Congratulations on your work!

Beautiful images and a creative eye! #4 is my favorite, with #1 a close second. I stayed at the Fairmont Copley some years back - it was a real treat to walk outside each morning and see that church.

I like the result of the altered image - especially in the bench and the lettering on the sign in the upper left. Keep experimenting and exploring!

I enjoy playing with post processing apps that offer these type of effects - so far only on my smartphone. Prisma offers many free effects without having to pay for their subscription (though the pop up will keep trying). You can choose from many different styles and adjust the gradient, to determine how much of the "artsy" style you want to overtake the original photo capture. I find it to be the best of both worlds, as I enjoy photography and have zero artistic skill when it comes to drawing/painting/etc.

I like his eye better in the first one - there's more of a red tint in his pupil on the second one.

Beautiful images! Thank you for sharing. Are there many wild lovebirds in AZ? Or are these maybe former pets that someone let loose? (Sadly, happens sometimes after a death or if someone’s moving). I had an Australian lutino lovebird - Yellow with a red face - for many years. Strangely enough, I found him perched on a cactus outside my door one day when I was leaving the house! He was definitely domesticated and a very cuddly companion for several years!

The first one makes me laugh - the fish looks quite surprised to have been caught! My other favorite is the rod out of the water - nice perspective and composition. Your underwater shots look great - clear and sharp!

Wow - that's a really pretty view to wake up to! Here in Orlando we're looking at 80 degrees for Thanksgiving and through the weekend.

I think you've shown that both images can be improved with the changes. The natural background for the male duck is too busy and detracts from the beauty of his colors. My only dislike about your altered version is where it's cropped across the bottom - the'res a pretty significant change to the background layer at the bottom and it took my focus away from the duck. For the female, I really like the way she looks against the background color you chose - it makes the iridescence on her wings pop!

Really interesting - thanks for sharing! I personally prefer the colors in #s 3-5 compared to the darker jewel tones in the first two. #3 is the most interesting to me - I like the honeycomb-like pattern and the mirroring effect of the smaller bubbles. I think if you could find more instances of patterns/fractal-type images, those might be the biggest bang for your buck.
