I don't know about Nikita, but sister Sayda seems to be mostly Shepherd. (Both are beautiful animals.)

Iā€™m trying to figure out how you were shooting into the sun but I see no shadows on this side of the rocks.

Pretty picture, but ...

Light seems to be coming from several directions. Overhead light casts sharp shadows under the eaves of the little house and under rock outcroppings. The sunset should be casting a diffuse, yellowish light on the lighthouse tower, but doesn't.

It's two - red and blue (count the tail wheels). What I want to know is - is that a jet engine under the blue plane? If so, bizarre.

Seems rather silly and gimmicky. If you want to use your old Canon or Nikon (like my Nikon F), buy a roll of Kodak Ektra, shoot it and find a photo lab to develop it. I've got a shop a mile from me that develops film and will present me with the negatives, prints and/or will scan the negs at very high res (something my Epson scanner will also do for me).

Beautiful - I think I prefer the top half on it's own. Your exposure is perfect.

I've found that MPB consistently beats the older sites like KEH, etc. in what they offer for used gear.

Easy to use. Describe items, get instant quote, if you decide to sell they send you a shipping label (free) and schedule pick up with FedEx. Upon receipt, assuming items are as you described, you get paid by direct deposit within a few days. ...

Totally agree with MDI Mainer. I've had excellent transactions with them in the past, and would immediately accept their offer if I had something to sell.

We were there a year ago and the Zoo was disappointing. Most of the exhibits were closed. The fence around the White House was unbelievably large and could not get close. The Scottish Rite Supreme Council is a good visit.

The White House fence has been removed and Penn. Ave. is once again open to pedestrians. I would assume the Zoo is also reopening but don't don't know for sure.

Google and/or Trip Advisor is your friend

Everybody knows about "Google and/or Trip Advisor." What people (like this OP) are asking for is personal advice and recommendations based on their personal experiences. Anything wrong with that?

Tilted shoreline and way too much blue. (Check white balance on the snow.)

Thanks, Joe. I fell in love with airplanes as a kid. The '50s and '60s were exciting times; always something new (and faster) coming along.

If you haven't done the Nat'l. Zoo, it's worth an afternoon visit. (It's between the Woodley Park and Cleveland Park Metro stops on the Red Line. Entrance to the Zoo is uphill from WP downhill from CP.) Follow that with a stroll down Connecticut Ave. to the Adams Morgan neighborhood for some great ethnic food. A nice downhill stroll from the Zoo is on the Rock Creek Trail through woodlands. You can get off the trail near Dupont Circle for more great restaurants. Alexandria "old town" (Metro blue or yellow lines) is worth a visit.

Important to remember: August weather in DC is awful - very hot and humid - so these suggested outdoor strolls might not what you want; much better in Sept., Oct. (BTW, the DC Metro - trains and stations - is air conditioned.)

Wonderful blast from the past!

Thanks, Paul. I actually like the grainy, B&W look for these old birds. (The scans could use a lot more cleaning up, though.)

Always liked the F4. We had them at Korat RTAFB in Thailand in '69. Awesome flying machine.

Awesome fighting machine, too. I was at Ubon RTAFB, a bit east of Korat. Our Phantoms had lots of "toys" for the guy in back (aka GIB)) to play with. Laser and "electro-optically" (TV) guided bombs, advanced bombing computers and state-of-the-art radar warning systems. (We also had full flight controls in the back, unlike Navy Phantoms.) I never got to shoot at a MiG (that was Udorn's job) but we always carried Sparrow and Sidewinder missiles just in case.
