Sorry if this has been posted before, but I have several lightly used camera kits and was wondering if any of you have experience with reputable camera shops that buy used cameras. Thank you.
If you sell to a shop, it means you want less money as they will have to make a profit when they sell it. The most money will come from selling direct to the consumer. If you light your fires with hundred dollar bills, you can just sell to a store and get a lot less money.
Why not sell your stuff right here? Tell us what it is and maybe we will buy it. There is eBay, but they will take a cut.
People on this forum buy used stuff every day. Sometimes we don't even need it.
What have you got?
A lot of us here on the hog trust each other enough that we buy/sell without reservation. Like Linda from Maine posted, check out the Buy/Sell section and post what you have. Who knows, there maybe somebody looking for just what you’re trying to get rid of.
Thanks for your message. You reminded me that a few years ago I did try to sell a camera to a store in New York and I was shocked by how little they would pay.
So here is what I have:
1. Olympus Pen F that I bought in 2018. Excellent condition. Has had very light use.
Lenses: (All M.Zuiko): 17mm f1.8; 45mm f1.8; 25mm f1.7; 75-300mm f4.8-6.7; 14-42mm f3.5-5.6;
40-150mm f4-5.6.
2. Fujifilm X100F that I purchased in May of 2019. Full leather case. Very little use.
I’ll also see about posting on uglyhedgehog later. Thanks again for the suggestion.

I sell all of my equipment at Ebay. I get anywhere from 45-90% more there than by trading in. I like new equipment, so I maximize my profits so I can afford new equipment. I do not like giving my equipment away by trading it in. It's like buying a new car and you trade in instead of selling it yourself. It is just like donating to a non charitable company, it is money wasted.
And I do not waste MY money.
Example, KEH wanted to give me $2500.00 for my D5 with 1500 shutter count. I sold it myself on Ebay for $4800.00. I did have to pay 10% to them for commission. You do the math.

I would be interested in the Pen F and the 3 prime lenses but I don't think I can afford them.

I have to agree. I have found mpb.com to give the best offered prices on photography equipment.
They also have excellent customer service too. I have never had any problems contacting someone there to answer any question I may have.

Dépends on demand it seems, sometimes KEH is higher, sometimes MPB, eBay needs to be a lot more to justify the hassle and all their fees.
Despite some complaints from others, I like eBay for selling. Before putting it online, I search eBay and see what others have sold for. If there is no interest, I don't bother listing it.
I get it cleaned up, take lots of pictures, and write an accurate description. I have a starting price of $0.99 with no reserve. By the time it goes online, I have a box and packing material ready, but I don't seal the box because someone might have a question that requires me to examine it. Buyer pays shipping, and I find the shipping cost online by selecting CA as the destination of the package. I put it on after 6:00 PM Sunday, and it's gone in a week.
I would never sell something special and expensive for which I wanted to get a specific high price. By the time I sell it, I have an idea what it will sell for, and I just let people bid.
