A beautiful photograph that is especially pleasing in download. I really like the cloud reflections. Thank you for posting.

You are right - the sky is dramatic but the subject selection compliments the sky and makes for a great image. Thanks for posting.

Very nice - it is nice that you are helping to preserve a work of art that otherwise might not survive. Keep up the good work and thanks for posting.

Very nice shots and thank you for using a slow enough shutter speed to blur the props. My thanks also to Lance Pearson for his narrative on the F-4U. As a point of interest, my avatar shows the second generation of the Corsair name - the jet version in my photo is the A-7D Corsair II and was also built by Vought and used a turbofan engine built by Detroit Diesel Allison. It was primarily an air to ground attack aircraft and could carry a lot more bombs on racks under the wings than the B-17 of WWII fame could carry internally and do it at 500kts indicated airspeed.

Absolutely great images of some classic old warbirds. The dark skies really add to the sharpness of the photos. Thanks for sharing.

My wife and myself were in Sedona last weekend for my nephew's wedding and stayed around for a few days after the event. We like to picnic up in Oak Creek Canyon which is just north of Sedona and usually go to the Banjo Bill picnic area. The road into the area splits and if you go left, you travel on a private road to a really secluded resort. Normally, the flow of water in Oak Creek is high enough that it floods the road to a depth of 1 or 2 inches but in September the flow was lower so we walked across to take some pictures looking back toward the road. I have never seen a sign like this before - I assume it was erected by the resort.

I flew on a c141, from Dover to Germany, in charge jump seat, no cargo completely empty, could play football in hold, even got to watch in air refueling great

In my first year with my airline, I was assigned to the MAC contract flights (all major airlines had to supply both passenger and cargo planes to supplement the Air Force flights going to and from Viet Nam). During the first year of cargo flights, we were not allowed to backhaul any payload but that meant on a cargo flight coming home, the entire airplane was empty and there were only the three pilots on board. We were the only airline that flew non-stop from Kadena AFB on Okinawa back to the west coast.(The others stopped in Hawaii). I can remember being out over the Pacific at zero dark thirty and trying to stay awake and someone suggested we go in the cabin and play Frisbee. Leaving one pilot in the cockpit, we went in the empty back and threw a Frisbee back and forth and this allowed me to claim that I have caught a Frisbee that was moving at 500MPH!

These are retailing on B&H new for $224.95 and used for $109.95 (graded B+) to $119.95 (graded 9). I would grade this as 10. I bought it new, have only used it in my home - never been in a camera bag and it has all the original paperwork and leather case and factory box. If you would like to check the specifications on B&H you can see what it can do. I will sell it for $60.00 including shipping to the first PM I receive. Pay via PayPal.

In November we will be in Las Vegas and want to decide which photographic side trip to make... Valley of Fire or Red Rock Canyon? Which offers the biggest punch?

Like most responders, I would suggest that seeing both is best but if you only have one day to dedicate to the trip, I would suggest Valley of Fire. The reason I suggest this is not only does it have more and varied rock formations but it also has some excellent petroglyphs on the Mouse's Pool trail but if you get there early in the morning as we did, you may get some beautiful close ups of desert bighorn sheep. The later you get there, the more people there are and the wildlife stays hidden. On our last visit, not only did we get up close to a group of bighorn sheep but were treated to a desert tortoise. We arrived around 8:00 AM and had the park to ourselves for about an hour. We spent about 4 hours in the park and finally left due to the heat of mid day (we were a lot earlier in the year than you will be). Another bonus to Valley of Fire is that you can drive to almost every scenic point. The only trail we hiked was the one with the petroglyphs and that was a very easy one. There are some nice picnic tables right alongside the main road so take a lunch and make a day of it. Like any venture in a desert climate, take plenty of water and stay hydrated.

When clicking through all the photos in UHH on a daily basis, every now and then one of them just grabs your attention and this is positively one of those. Thanks for posting it.

Very nice but all of your shots are taken over land or with land in sight - I thought the Navy was an ocean going operation! I do like the lighting on this one - it almost makes the SLUF look nice.

Another great photo of an unattractive airplane. They didn't call the A-7 "The Sluf" for its beautiful lines but it sure was nice to fly. In my opinion, the HUD was the greatest gift to aviators and made an annual instrument check a piece of cake. No more flying under a hood and thinking, "one peek is worth a thousand cross-checks"!
