Wonderful photos! Hopefully by our next air show here in Santa Maria, I'll doing well enough with taking photos that I can get a few flying aircraft shots. Last time I tried, I was way too slow, even when I thought I had my camera aimed and ready, got lots of empty sky shots.LOL. May ask what fstop and shutter speeds you used most?
Thanks,
PhotoNat

Hi. I wanted to write because I can so relate to what you are saying. I am also my own worst critic.

I just got a new Canon Rebel SL2 in January, moving up from my Canon Power Shot XS520. It has been a REAL learning curve for me, and for some reason I am having a very hard time getting photos that are sharp, and not blurry. It has been discouraging to me, as I had gotten some pretty good photos with my Power Shot. I have been feeling like "will I ever get the hang of this camera". I have even been having a hard time going to my Community Ed photography class, because I'm embarrassed by my blurry photos. I have had a few photos (even with the new camera) that some of my friends have complimented me on, even a friend who is a professional level photographer. So if we can learn from errors we have made, and give ourself credit for what we have done correctly, (believe me I know, easier said than done) I think our confidence will grow. When I first started to edit photos through Photo Shop Elememts 14, I was very intimidated, and didn't think I could ever learn it! I'm definitely NOT an expert, but can now do much more than I could, so it showed me I can learn. We can do this, as we give ourselves patience and grace to try new things, make mistakes, and grow from them. I bet it took the people we compare our photos to longer than we think to learn and get where they are.

I also much prefer color to black and white. I have turned a couple photos from color to black and white, just to see how they would look, but I know that will take than practice to get them just right.

Anyway, sorry for the long email, just wanted to let you know you are not alone, and encourage you to continue to give yourself patience to learn, and grace when you err. I have heard this before and think it's very true;
the things we learn best, are not always the quickest and easiest lessons. I"m also reminding myself of this as I write, and am going to do a screenshot of this, print it out, and put it in my camera backpack.
Best wishes for your photo journey, and continued success.

Thank you. When I looked at it this morning, I thought maybe that is what it was telling me, but was unsure, and unsure of how to get the 9.12.

Mark,
Thank you for replying and for the link. I had actually tried to download the DNG, and for some reason it did not download. Then I forgot where I had found THAT link for the DNG, since it does not seem to come up when I click the link I had shown here. I will try to download that again today sometime.
Thanks again,

Since I started taking Digital Photography and Photo Shop classes a couple years ago, I have been told it is best to EDIT RAW IMAGES. My Canon Power Shot I had at the time did not take Raw Images, so I would upload my jpeg images onto Photo Shop Elements 14 Camera Raw and start there with those. Now that I have my Canon SL2, which is capable of taking raw images, I set the camera to take raw AND jpeg images, as I was advised to. However, when I upload the RAW images onto my DELL INSPERION 15, 5000 SERIES LAPTOP, the photos do not show up, only an illustrated thumbnail with the photo's camera image number shows up, with the message I have shown in photo #1. Then when I click the link and go to the Micro Soft Store, I get the message shown in photo #2, that Codecs is NOT EVEN AVAILABLE YET, and WILL ONLY BE ABVAILABLE on a FUTURE WINDOWS UPDATE! REALLY??

Also, when I have tried numerous times to upload my Canon SL2 raw images ONTO PHOTO SHOP ELEMENTS 14 CAMERA RAW, they will NOT UPLOAD, and I get the following message. When I click this link, I am taken to Adobe's site that lists the cameras "supposedly" "supported" by ADOBE CAMERA RAW! However, ALL this site does is LIST the SUPPORTED CAMERAS,(of which my Canon Rebel SL2 is one) but does NOT TELL HOW TO MAKE THE RAW IMAGES OF SAID CAMERAS WORK with Camera Raw.

Has anyone else had a problem with this, and hopefully know the solution? Thought I would try here first.

Thank you,

PhotoNat

Thank you for sharing! Gorgeous photos! I REALLY wanted to go up there while there was snow, but it just didn't work financially for me to get there, so now, with your gorgeous photos, I almost feel like I was there, and since I am still on quite a learning curve with my Canon SL2 that I got in January, I am 99% sure I would not have gotten any photos NEAR as beautiful as yours!

I've gotten these. Yeah, we're supposed to believe that someone in that kind of authority would such poor grammar skills- obviously not well educated. Right!

I often get these in my spam folder,(I wonder why) along with those saying I decided to leave my
$million(s) inheritance to you(who I don't know from Adam)LOL! Does anyone really believe this??
