I will be enjoying a two week driving tour of the Southwest (Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico) this month. I have to shrink and lighten my load as much as feasible so I'm leaving my DSLR at home and will be taking my Fuji X-E2S and some lenses. I have recently added a 12mm wide angle to my Fuji kit to widen my view on the APS-C frame. So, I have the 12mm, a 18-55mm and a 55-200mm. I'm weighing whether to take the 55-200mm. I'm not looking to do wildlife photography, but will focus on landscapes, plants, nature, and city scenes. Do any UHHers familiar with that part of the country think I will have enough focal length in the 12mm and 18-55mm to cover 95% of my needs? Thanks for your advise.

Stan

Save the 55-200 for your next trip to that area and get the most out of the other two lenses on this trip. Enjoy!

I think I have it. I went through Apple support and up loaded to icloud then to windows. I was able to see the three pictures that were the most recent, and I needed. The older pix, taken with an android and trans to iphone I could see in the cloud and that's all I needed. It looks like I will be able to see and download recent pix.
Once again I am in your debt.
Thanks
John

Glad it worked out for you. Enjoy the weekend!

If your phone saves the photos in iCloud, then if you have a Mac, you can download them through there.

If you have Windows, there is an iCloud for Windows and it will show you the photos if you have your phone set to save them in iCloud. You can download them from that app. If a photo is in HEIF, it will download a jpg and a mov file.

The only inconvenience I have with iCloud for Windows is that it wants me to sign in frequently. Not every time, just when I'm in a hurry.

Yet another good suggestion for the OP to consider!

Easier than the above: Call Apple Tech Support (it is free) 800-275-2273, the automated voice will ask you which Apple product you're calling about, say iPhone and you will be connected with a person who knows almost all about iPhone or they will find someone who can address your problem. This service is great because it's FREE and the people know their subject.

Can’t argue with that suggestion! The only method easier than your suggestion is to get some else to do all of this for you!!

Easiest way is just to set the default to save photos in the “most comparable” format jpg

Where do I find that default on my iPhone? And then how do I actually download the individual pictures to my computer ( be it either a Mac or pc)

Trying to download pictures from new iphone. It is either a 11 or 12. The pictures download OK to my laptop as empty squares. But when I go to look at them it says, Photos cannot open this file because the format is unsupported. I can see them in the phone but can't load them to the computer. All the past photos from my camera have a label - DSC-####. The pix from this camera have many different prefixes, like CWGT,GGNK, IMG, IQQB, ISAP, OELC, UHMT, etc. all with _####
Anyone have any ideas? Keep in mind I am computer illiterate. BE Specific Please. Thanks

Go to: www.support.apple.com and type into the search bar “how to download pictures from my iPhone to my computer”. You will be rewarded with detailed instructions.

Love my x100s, xt20 and my xe3 and all my Fuji glass. I sold/gave away all my Nikon DSLR gear in 2014. Never looked back.

Just wondering about closeup lens, and do they really work. I am not interested in macro/micro photography, but, at times, I would like to get a little closer to the subject when photographing it. Anyone use closeup lens or have knowledge about them, please respond. Thank you.

It’s probably fair to say that if the results meet your expectation then they work for you!

Hello Fellow UHHers. I typically save all my day’s photos onto my iPad when I’m away from home. This time, since i was away for a few days, I did some editing on the iPad, which has pretty capable tools on it. However, I noted when I then uploaded these edited photos into my computer, that the file size was much much smaller. Typically my photos are about 7 to 10 mb, but these photos edited on the iPad are less than 1 mb. Does anyone know why this is? Thank you! JimR

The actual file size of the photo will only appear on the original device that recorded the image. For example if photographed on the iPhone, the actual file size will reside on the phone as long as you have not checked “optimize iPhone storage” in iCloud photos settings.

I recommend using whatever it takes to get the shot. If high ISO is what it takes then go for it!

I believe that most any dslr, mirrorless, or go pro can be used as a web cam if it has an hdmi port. You will also need a device such as the Elgato cam link (or similar) to connect your camera to your computer USB port. I have successfully used this setup with my Fuji mirrorless camera.

You can connect your wired printer to a print server attached to your network.
