It is refreshing to see an attractive model who hasn't been inked up or pierced. Smile in #1 looks a bit unnatural to me. And yes, finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot!!! BTW, what model laser sight is that? Doesn't look like a Crimson Trace.... old Tasco perhaps?

We planned a trip to Barcelona, Spain. My wife was extremely fearful that my "baby" would be stolen. She put so much fear in me that I was super vigilant. (I think that is more prudent to be vigilant than buying a camera bag with a diamondback rattlesnake inside.). My regular camera bag is black cloth best up and has various patches on the outside. It doesn't have any logo on it what so ever. She didn't want me to use it. Needless to say she saw a bag and bought it for me unannounced. It is a PACSAFE Z14. This is a sling bag that hold a full frame body and lens plus three other lenses. On the outside it isn't enticing. But it has RFID pockets as well as wire mesh inside the pockets and straps. They also make a backpack model labeled Z16. It's not very hefty on the price tag. About $150 dollars.
I carried the camera bag on board without any problem from TSA. I have a photograph of my old bag and my new bag.

Wherever you are going make sure you know of a nearby camera store. If a lens gets damaged or you need an extra camera memory card you're covered. Also, have a safe flight!
Don't forget to post photos of your trip!

Happy Shooting!

Sure looks like that first bag is a traveling man's bag, especially with the attached light.

This is impossible to answer meaningfully. Turning the camera on would be the most meaningful response with the information you've provided.

I've shot airshows and have used anything from a 70mm lens to a 600mm. The Blue Angels do a high speed pass where two planes approach each other and pass, seemingly avoiding a mid air collision, usually right in front of the paid access seating area. Try to get as close to that area as possible.

Camera settings are no different than any other shooting situation. Use the aperture that provides the greatest sharpness or depth of field, shutter speed that will stop action, and an ISO that will let the first two settings provide adequate exposure. No magic there.

As you can see in the images below, even 1/2500 sec is not short enough to freeze two planes approaching each other. But timing is everything on those. The formation passes are easier. I would use 1/4000 sec or faster if possible.

Well I don't shoot Nikon, but I do shoot Panasonic. On my GX8, electronic shutter reduces the chance of shutter shock, which occasionally happens with the Copal mechanical shutter at certain speeds combined with certain lenses e.g 1/60 - 1/320 plus a 14-140 (although I don't have a 14-140). The other advantage is no sound.
Panny introduced firmware to overcome the shutter shock risk, by selecting "auto electronic" in the menus, the camera automatically switching to electronic in a risk combo. But perhaps this will not be a prob with your Z7. The Panny GX9 has a new type electro-magnetic shutter, designed to eliminate the problem.

I use my macro lenses mostly for macro and universal. This is about macro.

I need your wisdom, opinion, and advice, either positive or negative.
I am moving from my Nikon's (I have a 100mm Tokina macro I have been happy with.) to an Olympus OM D E M1 ii. I have good lenses for the Olympus including the 60 mm Tokina macro. I have been very happy with the 60mm. My favorite shooting is macro. I spend most of my time on macro photography indoors and outdoors, indoors more than outdoors. I do like 1 to 1. I am looking at the Olympus 30mm macro. Would you please tell me your opinions or thoughts about my purchasing the 30mm macro? I know it is very close to target.

Once again, that you for your valued advice.

I have the Oly 60mm Macro and wouldn't have any other. That ability to get 1:1 from a longer lens to subect distance is real important.... I don't have to worry about camera/lens shadows on the subject, and if it it an insect it won't be as quick to scurry/fly away.
And you can't go wrong with Oly weathersealing. I also like the button on the barrel where you can select one of three focus ranges. Read up on it at dpreview.com or any of the other review sites.

YES!!! I am so tired of reading about the Canon v. Nikon wars and about mirror slap when using tripods.

We havw many forums on UHH, I subscribe to 7 at present and have subscribed to 12 in the past.

It costs nothing and would help those who use mirrorless.

The best place for mirrorless at present is MU-43.COM, dedicated to ILC M43 systems.

I am tired of the FF PROs, semi-pros, and "enthusiaats" proclaiming "if you ain't FF, you ain't shit".

I spend a lot of time reading thru the various forums, and would like to see SEVERAL new ones: FF Mirrorless, M43 ILC, P&S, and Bridge. It would let people read only what concerns them.

If they want general info, they can always go to the MAIN photography forum.

It costs nothing and would be helpful.

I am amazed about how much crappy info is posted to answer a simple question, especially from people living outside the USA who have zero knowledge of CBP regulations or the application thereof.

If you don't KNOW the answer, then STFU!!

The poor OP is now more confused then ever.

To the OP: do some research on your own at the CBP website. The answers are there if you look.

I am going to Japan in the fall for 2 1/2 weeks as part of a small group photo expedition. I typically shoot a full frame Nikon cameras and have a lot of lenses, too many to take so I need to say, pick three. We'll be shooting the typical shots in Japan: Landscape in the mountains of Shikoku and Koya and some along the sea coast at night, Temples/Shrines in Kyoto from exterior and inside, and also some arranged shoots in the evening with dancers, Geisha, etc. I want to keep my pack small and not too heavy so I am thinking about a 16-35 F4 and a 70-200 F4, both of which I have used on previous trips with good success. I am thinking I need a third fast lens between those two, maybe a 50mm or 85mm. I don't really want a third zoom lens (ie, 24-70 F2.8), and think I need a fast lens for night shots and portraits. Advice about selection and considerations is always appreciated.

Some thoughts to ponder: you will be traveling around Japan mostly on a train or a bus, and shooting through windows
The Shinkansen bullet trains are VERY fast (think 290 KPH) and high shutterspeeds are required regardless of focal length.

You will not do interior shots of shrines, as they are small and only Shinto priests (and funeral mourners) are usually allowed in.

Buddhist temples are much bigger, sometimes with several buildings, and visitors are usually welcome. The interior of temples are usually dimly lit, requiring a fast lens, preferably f1.8 or better, and a focal length or 28mm or shorter. Flash may or may not be allowed in a temple, depending on the meditation activities going on at the time and the policies of the head monk.

The most striking thing about nights in Japanese cities is the plethora of colors. They have bright colorful lights in urban centers, much more so then in the typical US city. It's like a Times Square only more so.

My choices would be a 24-70mm f2.8 zoom as this will cover landscapes, shots from busses and trains, and daytime street shots.

Second choice would be a fast wide angle in the 14-24mm range (prime or zoom) for temple interiors and maiko/geisha performances.

I don't think you will use a 70-200mm f4 that much. Too big, too heavy, and you can crop in LR. Just my opinion, but I lived there for 10 years....

Gan batte kudasai !!

The Presidio has some great spots to shoot the GG Bridge. Also check out Lombard Street, Telegraph Hill, Nob Hill, The Wharf, and Ghiardelli square.

Do NOT go into the Tenderloin, the Mission district, Potrero Hill, Haight-Ashbury, or Hunters Point.
