Hello Everyone,
I wanted to take a group out for a night shoot for lights in New York City.
Neon lights, street lights, store window lights ect.
What streets or areas would be the best 42nd Street, theater district, Broadway ect?
Thank you

Go to the Promenade in Brooklyn Heights. From there you will be looking at he lights from the bridges to your right and lower Manhattan will be in front of you.
Times Square, to state the obvious, but it’s fascinating at night

The High Line. And just about any area from (and including) Central Park to Battery Park, East River to Hudson River, Brooklyn Promenade, Jersey City, Hamilton Park, etc.
But if you are a New Yorker, you already have favorite spots, don't you?

For some reason I don't think you are from The City. If you were you would't have to ask this question. My Fave view of the skyline is the LIE to the BQE all thw to Atlantic ave, and the promenade. Another place , that few choose is Astoria Park. Great perspectives of The tri borough bridge and the Hellgate.. Manhatten aint the only place to shoot. I could go on for ever about a shoot in the City.

Ex-Brooklynite here: For the uninitiated- B.Q.E= Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, L.I.E.= Long Island Expressway. Hey, what about Coney Island- time exposures of the rides in motion at twilight! Nathan's sign*! Not a bad view of the Skyline form the Williamsburg Bridge. Lower Manhattan from the area between the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge. The Bronx-Whitestone Bridge at night is like sculpture!

As has been said, Times Square and the Brooklyn Heights Promenade are a must. As a native New Yorker, still living here, my opinion is that there are no more spectacular views than those seen when riding the Staten Island ferry. You get great views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and it’s free. You can ride it back and forth as many times as you like without spending a dime. You do however, have to get off and then on again at each landing. Cliched as it may sound, go to the top of the Empire State Building too.
Just be aware that the Empire State Building does not allow tripods.
WOW ....that was Exciting to read and so many places in NYC to see & shoot. I live in the sticks so it was an education and a Quick Study Indeed for me personally that I will keep on file for when & if I enter those boroughs . Thanks Guys.

Chinatown at night is pretty cool..... Walk to little Italy. Then take an easy walk down to City Hall and Brooklyn Bridge. You can walk up on the bridge and get some great shots from there. Even get some shots down in the subway, just be careful who you shoot.

Always a good idea!
How come no one’s mentioned the inbound Gowanus? There are always plenty of lights there, generally red.
The #7 train from Times Square to Flushing.
125th St near Apollo Theater. BTW, Chinatown picture reminded me. Shoot after a recent rain, or during (I have Pentax...) to catch the reflections. City is converting street lamps to LED, so check your balance or shoot RAW.
