No need to feel embarrassed about using Picasa...it may not be as technically elaborate or sophisticated as others (admittedly, it can't process RAW), but it is way more intuitive than most or all others. If your JPEGs are composed and shot well, it yields good results. The 'more sophisticate' programs could take a cue from Picasa.
Gorgeous...including a couple of "calendar" scenes...makes me want to make a return visit!
As another new user of PSE 15 -- and after an extensive look-see at the local bookstore -- I chose "The Photoshop Elements 15 Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby. He offers downloadable photos (on his site) for practicing. It was much cheaper from Barns & Noble's website than at the store and if you jump at the on-screen offer of 15% off your first purchase you do even better. I've only just begun (sounds like a song lyric!) but it has made my use of PSE so much easier and relaxing. Good luck and enjoy!
There are other possible sites...search kicked up a bunch...one must still be active, maybe this one: http://picasa.findmysoft.com/
Picasa download at this site: https://picasa.en.softonic.com/
As stated above, Picasa is stuck in JPEG. The result that you are getting is probably from RAW images. While Picasa is a delight to use (and intuitive in design -- unlike most others), you need to have JPEGs available for it. I shoot JPEG+RAW, so that I can do quick-and-dirty editing and sharing with Picasa...and then use an Adobe or Corel product to do serious editing of RAW images.
There's nothing like a steam locomotive in action! Diesels are boring, in comparison.
If I can attach it, here's one in the early 1970s commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Delaware & Hudson in upstate NY.
How many times has someone said, while admiring your photos, "Wow, that must be some camera you have!" I put an end to it by saying, "Do you think the idiot behind the camera had anything to do with it?"
Thanks, but I solved it another way...added an email client and associated it to PSP. End of story, but thanks for your help.
Ditto--my first serious camera was also a Yashica SLR with a 50/1.8. Great workhorse, used it for college paper & yearbook work. Also had a Yashicamat twin-len s reflex -- my poor-man's Rollei!
Coolpix B700 has the long zoom range AND shoots RAW!

Welcome to UHH.As a Mac user, I cannot help you
Thanks for the welcome...this site is a real treasure trove of ideas and wonderful people.
I await some help, though I seem to be leaning away from PSP and towards PhotoShop elements---if I get through the learning-curve thing.
Regards!
New to Paint Shop Pro 9. My attempt to email photo opens Microsoft Outlook...that's outmoded for many Windows 10 users. Wrote to Corel, got link to using Outlook. Asked for how-to on Windows 10 Mail but received nothing to date. Any workarounds?
