Got a wife?

MT Shooter give some good suggestions. Don't think your wife would enjoy mine suggestion.

I am working on a combo of the two. Trying to convince my fiance that it makes sense for her to carry the Sigmonster in a backpack so I can grab it easily when needed.
(Its not going to well yet.) :-D

good luck with that. my brother

I had been using my Canon 85mm/f1.8 for some of my family and senior picture shoots with beautiful results close up but limitations with groups and full body shots. After researching and reading reviews I ended up with the Sigma 17-70mm/f3.8 and getting nice results without breaking the somewhat limited bank. Recommend it for a good everyday walk around lens.

thanks Cliff..25 years of working with oxygen tanks caused my poor adled brain to tell my fat little fingers to type PSI instead of PPI.....duh

Is 240 psi best for shots that will be put on a web site?

Don't know about pounds per square inch, but the PPI number is meaningless for web use. All that matters is pixel dimension.

Boy, how many times do we need to repeat this. 72, 45, 346, 837, PPI will all look the same on the screen if the number of pixels is constant. So something around 600x400 works well and that is the only number that matters. Forget the PPI myth.

No matter how many people tell you that it should be 72PPI, they are all wrong.

I shoot a Canon T2si also and for wedding close ups and basically any portrait work I use my 85mm/f1.8 (sample below) I have been really pleased as have my clients. One limitation for wedding or family group photos it doesnt work well.
I'm also researching lenses that have a pretty wide aperture option with a wider angle for the above situations

Do any of you shoot with this lens? I am considering purchasing this as a complement to my Canon 85mm/f1.8.

I prefer the 24-70 f2.8L. It's expensive. One of the most versatile and sharpest lenses in the canon line.(the new one)
Next choice would be the kit lens 24-105l. Quite a good kit lens.

I,use the 16-35 2.8l for landscapes but not groups. I've only used the lens once for a group. It was for a group of girls. I didn't plan on the shot. The results were good.

I own all of the above lenses as well as the 85 1.2L.

I really appreciate the info. Fortuately for me, there are 2 excellent camera stores close by that have a pretty extensive inventory in their rental departments and there are aslo a couple very good on line rental companies. I rented an incident light meter prior to my Virginia Beach wedding (sun, sand etc presented some pretty challenging exposure problems). I looked at your website and was very impressed. I use the 85/1.8 for senior pictures with very good results. thanks again

Hello dspoon. Without not knowing your budget I would go with the canon 16 to 35 2.8L.I also shoot Canon and if my budget allowed it that is what I would go with.

I recently shot a wedding using my Canon 85mm/f1.8 portrait lens and the client and I were extremely pleased with the results, however I still need to invest in a lens that gives more of a wide angle for groups (wedding parties, families etc) and allows for aperture options for good bokeh.
Would appreciate your suggestions.
