just put our last cat down thursday. I can honestly say, there is nothing you can say. Go with that. just be there.
7th grade Photo class. first time taking pictures for class. Teacher walks us outside to take pictures. There was a bunch of little trees in the courtyard. Teacher tells us to take pictures of the trees, which we did. When we were done, he walked up to the trees, stuck is camera inside the bunch and took a picture. Next weeks class we got to look at the pictures. There were seven kids in the class, and we had made seven identical pictures of the sale trees. Teacher took out his picture, and we were amazed at he picture he took, it was a cool picture, still can see it today. He said to the class, "Always look beyond the tree". My life of Photography is based on that simple five word sentence. I teach by that same principle as well
set P mode to take Black and white shots
Guilty as Charged
Minolta SLR because I need a film Camera
Pentax x-5 Bridge camera because I need 16X zoom
Pentax D10 DSLR because I wanted a DSLR
Pentax D20 because the D10 needed a friend
Ugh!!!
My two cents; can a picture tell a story? No. But can it can trigger a response, yes. A photograph is simply a trigger. It makes one think. The person viewing the picture would trigger in themselves, thought, compassion, fear, or even joy. Its our job a Photographers to illicit that response with our pictures. Some of us want that emotion to be so strong that they will buy the print. Now, all of us have been asked by our public to explain the picture, aka tell the story. It is once you have completed that, that then there is now a story attached to the picture. So, can a photograph tell a story? No, only the photographer can, then the picture, according to the buyer, has a story.

thanks everyone. I have shot pentax from the age of 13. I had a sears ks super film set with every lens I could buy. I now own a Pentax X-5, K10D which I love so much, I bought a K20D to keep it company!!!
or am I all alone in the back of the bus'
I agree. Bridge cameras can so things SLR's dream about. I use three cameras Pentax k20D Primary Camera, Pentax K10D Backup camera, and A Pentax K-5 bridge camera with 16x zoom and takes flower close ups better then anything I have ever used. So, SLR's and Bridge cameras with long soon should be in everyone's bag.

Wise man once told me, when you sell your first for profit phot to someone you don't know, you have become a professional, because the person who bought the picture thinks you are.
I'm kinda the opposite of the others. I shoot automatic to catch the picture. Then I see what the settings that the camera use, then sue that as a starting point for manual shooting.
