I always like honest and candid feedback from people, so I thought I would throw this picture out there for comments. Hopefully, I am in the right forum. Anyway, this is a picture I took while going through my house. My wife is a big fan of the blue color. I wanted intentional contract color from where I was standing but maybe I should have taken a few different angles to compare. Anyway, all feedback welcome on the photo...even if you think it's crappy! LOL! Thanks!
I would have included the bottom corner closest to the viewer, but I like it.

I find the greenish thing in the background distracting.
I wonder if an adjustable polarizing filter might have eliminated those little glare points.

I would shoot your subject from a differend position, so you could isolate the subject better with a different background (preferably a darker one, but that's preference). It sure would make the picture more interesting!

Good point. It's the lid of the box, so perhaps I should have framed the entire box as well to give it more depth? I once had a photography teacher back in high school tell us to take about 30-40 shots of the same subject to see which one makes the most sense.

That's a vase and I see what you mean. If I removed it, it would just be the contrasting white background, which would probably make the bird look better

I've never used one before. Which would you recommend? I always like to try new things!

The background here is the wall, which would make it more interesting I think if I removed the vase from behind the bird. My brother used to have solid black and solid white backdrops, which were great to use when there was time to set them up and get the subject all set. If you don't have those, what would you use for "ad hoc" backdrops?
I've done a little still life, just enough to realize that it is not as easy as it looks.
I bought some back drops from Hobby Lobby that were pretty cheap and worked great.
I think if you had used a back or white back drop it would've been much better. I don't think color of the back drop in this case would make much difference except of course you wouldn't want to use blue.
The front corner bothers me to.
I would take twenty shots or so all from different angles and settings etc and pick the ones I like best and ask the same questions
I think it's a good start.

Good idea...probably best to take a few and then re-post with multiple options. Think I'll take the vase away as well and go through some re-do shots. Now all I need is time!
your bird blends into the background so change that. and use a lightbox to have more control over the bright spots.
The image looks like it needs more contrast....a darker background would help.
Sorry its a boring shot. try hitting it a flash at an angle. hit it with a light cast a shadow
