Safe for optics, screens, self contained pre-moistened, pocketable, and they do a great job.

Wow. You can buy the same Zeiss wipes from Walmart for $5 a hundred. B&H must love you!

I was at Yellowstone with my m43 camera pointed at a wolf. It had a 100-400 mm lens. The woman next to me and a full frame Nikon and a lens the length of my arm. She felt sorry for me with such a tiny camera and lens so offered me a peek at the wolf in her camera. I looked, smiled and thanked her because I had never looked through a lens that big. Size does matter! A few minutes later the wolf moved. I was shooting 4K video so the "crop factor", "angle of view" or whatever is different again. I offered her a look in my viewfinder. She was pissed because my viewfinder had more wolf in it than hers. I didn't even try to explain crop factors or equivalent views.

After the wolf left, we packed up. She had a large man to help carry her gear to her Suburban. In the back was a false floor. Beneath it was custom cut, foam lined compartments for he "wildlife" kit". Mine when into my camera bag.

If there is a point, mine would be to stop calculating and look through the camera and lens. If it is working, use it. If not get a bigger or smaller lens.

Shooting with a big lens does not in any way mean the photographer has a big brain.

Just wondering what would be the high and low prices for a Nikon Nikkor 50.mm 1.8 with the auto and manuel settings? Will I'll have any problems using it on a D5600?

If you are looking for a G series lens about $150. If you are looking for a D series about $100 in EX+ condition. Check www.keh.com.

The Nikon 105mm f2.8 is a very sharp lens. It's almost as sharp as the Nikon 105mm f1.4 for less than half the price and it has VR. Can't speak for the the other lenses. The Nikon 60mm f2.8 is also a very sharp lens but is better suited for shooting flat field subjects like paintings and other copy work.

See if you can rent or borrow one for a week or two. If you find as others have that this lens sucks on a D850 you can return it. If you are still stuck on looking for the Holy Grail does it all lens, buy the 28-300 and and a D300s with a 12.3 megapixel sensor. That is the camera body that this lens was designed to work with not the D850 with a 46 megapixel sensor.

Has anyone had a manual printed up by Kinko, Office Depot or the like? There's so much to the manual I'd like to have it printed with a spiral binding so that it will lay out flat and I can have it with me at all times when I'm out learning to be a photographer.
Once again, thanks folks

Rick

Manuals are OK if you are just you are an experienced photographer and already know what you want to do but don't know how to do it with your particular camera. If you want to learn to be a photographer look at Steve Perry's ebooks, David Busch's books, or Thom Hogan's ebooks. They not only tell you the hows but more importantly the where, when, and why you do something. Don't know about Magic Lantern books but the reviews on Amazon seem to be good.

My friend, Al, told me this just last Sunday. He works for a medical imaging supplier. Back when one of the companies they represent used Hasselblad cameras as part of their equipment. When they had any problems they sent the cameras to Hasselblad USA. Then they found that Hasselblad was sending them to a guy in Valley Center, KS just north of Wichita (where Al is based). The guy running a one man shop was THE expert on Hasselblad cameras. They got faster service and saved shipping by going straight to the source. Al said he was a great guy to deal with and gave them many good tips on the cameras that no one else did.
My point? Don't forget the local guys when you go looking for service. You might save some money and maybe even make a new friend.

Unfortunately the repair business has changed. Nikonusa either has or is about to stop selling repair parts to their authorized independent service centers. So there are only two options for us Nikon owners,
Los Angles California and Melville, New York. I miss the old business model.

Semantics. It's a normal flatbed scanner that can copy slides with the right settings and holder. If one has a massive number these things to copy, something like this that would allow multiple slides to be copied at the same time might be better than anything that only does one at a time, including a camera with a slide adapter in front of a lens. The V800 or V850 can copy 12 at a time. They cost much more than the V600.

Unfortunately what you gain in speed you give up in quality. Unless you go with a very expensive drum scanner the quality of your scanned images is mediocre at best.

The digitizer uses a holder that you place the slide in and has a plexiglass defuser in front. We used a Balcar head as a light source but I think you can use window light also. I'll try that later today and let you know. We also used Capture One in live view to check focus and immediate viewing to verify that the digital image was good. You can do the same thing with digiCamControl (which is free) and a $10 cable from Amazon.

If you shoot Nikon full frame and have a Nikon 60mm micro D or G lens, Nikon makes a great slide digitizer attachment. Just copied a bunch of chromes from a shoot that was done back in '83. Used a D850. The results were noticeably better than the ones done at a local photo shop and they charged $10 per copy.

Years ago I did a head shot for an actor wannabe. He said that he didn't like the photo but wanted to keep it even though he refused to pay. I said no and kept the photos. A couple of days later another client say the photo on a table and recognized the guy. Said the guy was shoplifting from a supermarket that the client worked for. The client asked if he could have the print to put up in the store's office. Gladly gave it to him and within a week the actor wannabe was arrested outside the store with a few steaks shoved
inside his shirt.

Good shots. The 18-200 is an interesting lens. Overall it is fairly sharp. Much sharper than the 18-300.

Adorama does not charge sales tax. Your information is incorrect.

Adorama is collecting Connecticut sales tax now. I purchased some bag inserts a couple of weeks ago, using points no less, and the sales tax for the purchase showed up on my invoice. I had to pay that in cash not points. Not complaining. They have to do this by law.

Hey Pat -
What brand is the card? I'd start with the manufacturer and see if they have any tools to help you recover your raw files. Sounds like it might be a FAT issue. I'm in Durham if you want to message me.
