Sorry Curmudgeon, if you look at Chief’s images you will notice the “white Sandhill Crane is the same
Size as the others. That is first thing you should have observed. I was a resident volunteer when those whoopers came to Bosque del Apache following an ultralight. The following year two came to the refuge and that was the end of Whooping Cranes at BdA. Because Whoopers are considerably larger than Sandhill Cranes, we know Chief’s images are of a light morph Sandhill Crane.
I agree with Easy Canvas Prints as they have made none standard size full wrap canvas prints for me in the past.
I carry a 8.5 X 11” sheet of black foamcore with a hole cut in the center for the lens to go through. This works great for where you can get up to the glass. Glass will always reflect, so let it reflect black (nothing). Negative on the polarizing filter.
It seems to me that by being in shutter priority, your leaving the camera two variables to control. Why not use manual exposure control with you setting both the shutter speed and the aperture and giving the camera the ISO to control. I think by doing this you’ll find more consistent results.
Damselflies, my friend. Two mating damselflies and one terrific catch.
I’d get the bent pin fixed but more important is how did it happen? I was leading a photo group to Costa Rica and one of the participants had some CF pins get pushed over. He had purchased cheap CF cards and that was the problem. With close examination we could see poor opening continuity due to lack of quality control. Keep your camera happy and purchase only good memory cards.
Not only do I have the WH-200 but I also have and use the Sidekick. I use the Sidekick when traveling on a RRS BH-55. I use the WH-200 locally around the SW. I use them to hold the Canon 100-400, sometimes equipped with a 1.4 extender or the Canon 500 f/4 again sometimes with an extender. My favorite body is the 7D II but I’ll use a 5D III sometimes. Am I pleased? If I weren’t, I wouldn’t continue to use them. I’ve recommended the Sidekick to many and have yet to hear of anyone not happy with there’s.
Had the mI and loved it. I was a volunteer at a wildlife refuge and used it for birds and nature. Now I’m a volunteer at a Botanic Garden and use the mII for butterflies, flowers and birds as well as nature. The mII has the close focus capability over the mI and may be a bit better IQ but I’d be happy using the mI. It’s a great lens and a clean version can be acquired for about $600.
I have and occasionally use it. Very happy with this lens. I don’t know what your question is. I use it for astrophotography and landscapes but I’m thinking of selling it. Have fun.
Excellent lens. I use the 100mm macro on a 80D, 7D and a 5Dlll with results that satisfy my requirements. I also have the 50mm macro but enjoy Being further away from the subject. Only objection I have to the 100mm is it’s a very heavy lens but there are some advantages to that weight.
Ron, I am ready and willing to purchase your 400mm. PM me with your email address and I’ll PayPal you the funds. Thanks
Terrific images Dave. Love those Burrowing Owls.
Rich1939, what do you enjoy photographing? Do you enjoy hiking? Nature and wildlife? Street photography? Flora? Albuquerque probably has it all but it would help to know what you’d enjoy.
Cranes & Light Geese will not be at Bosque del Apache in August.
