Greart story... thanks for posting. All of our animals have been rescues as well... both dogs and cats. If you love animals, consider becoming a monthly donor to a rescue or shelter ($5 a month from 100 people can make a huge difference to a shelter). Personally, I support "Hope for Paws" (hopeforpaws dot org) and a local shelter.

I have that lens and use it for night sky photography with my Nikon DSLR's. I really like it (as far as manual lenses go). Below is an example of what it can do paired with a Nikon D610. This was taken in Arches National Park a few years ago.

The first photo is quite an old one from a dog's perspective... it is of Kody, our then 15 year old Red Bone Hound (who lived to nearly 18 years old), and Delta, our then new Lab / Golden mix puppy (who is now almost 7). The look on their faces is best part about the photo.
The second is Delta as an adult, boating, which she loved to do (when we had a boat). The last is Lincoln, our 110lb Black Lab. Delta and Linoln live with us in (relative) harmony with our cat, Gibson.
All our dogs and cats have been rescues.
