I’ve done this on several generations of iMac. OWC has a great kit to install an SSD. This will turbocharge your machine. Add more ram if you can as well. My advice also, don’t upgrade your OS past El Capitan or Sierra if you don’t have software that demands it.

I enjoy the variety of using both. The mirror/shutter on my ol’ F2as is so different than my digital Nikons. Preferring b&w film to color, I just keep a few rolls of Illford Pan on hand, and send my rolls off to The Darkroom, and wit till I can download. I usually keep the 50mm f/1.2 on it and zoom with the feet as it were.

Shot with D750, ISO dialed down to below zero. Its just out of the camera, I'm too lazy to do much tweeking. I'm sure you can do a bit of browsing and find some excellent examples of distortion for this lens 'out there'.

In my experience there’s no question that my D750 captures a “better” image than my F2AS with color film. I like the ability on the dslr to move the iso around so I can put shutter and aperture where I want them. With film, I must keep my NDs and flashes handy. But, working within those limitations is now the “fun” of pulling the ol’ F out and using it. Shooting b&w on film is easier and more rewarding to me than color. (apologies for the ramble)
