One year ago today!

I see that it was a year ago today that I joined UHH. While I have learned a lot, there is still much more to learn. The biggest change for me has been to go from full auto mode to manual mode. An that is a direct result of helpful photographers and their great postings. Thank you.

Most amazing thing you ever saw? (and did you get a shot of it?)

This summer when a bald eagle flew in at tree top level. I looked up and saw the bird flying directly towards me and then landed in a tree not 20 feet from me. It never saw me. I walked up to the cabin to grab my camera. Before I started switching lenses, I decided to go see if the eagle was still in the tree. Walked out side to if the eagle was still on it's perch, and that's when the eagle took off. Should have put the lens on first.

I agree. When I worked in a photofinishing lab I got a good discount on equipment and processing and I took a took a lot of photos. When I left the lab, my enthusiasm for photography dipped. But with the advent of digital and the cost being so inexpensive, I can go out and shoot all I want and it costs practically nothing.
