Digital days are so much greater than film days. I've been taking pics. since the late 1940's and had a b&w darkroom when I was in grade school. As I got older other things took up more of my time and the darkroom was sold off. Color slides and prints were all I had time for. Marrage and kids meant less time for photography, but I never quit shooting. Color darkrooms were impossible for someone with limited time and money, so I was stuck with slides and prints from the drugstore.
Now comes retirement and inexpensive scanners and time to go back and work with the old slides and negs. Here's some of the fun I've been having.
I know what you mean...
I did photography for many years, and had to always "do it all". Couldn't let anyone else develop my film, or make my prints. So I was doing all my black & white, and color film developing, all my black & white and color printing. Even after I stopped doing photos professionally, I still had to "do it all".
Finally when my living arrangement did not allow for a darkroom, I lost interest in photography until digital came along! I hope digital has revived other people's interest in photography, as it did for me.
Would never have taken up photography but for digital its great. Loved the waterfall pic the colours were superb.

I agree. When I worked in a photofinishing lab I got a good discount on equipment and processing and I took a took a lot of photos. When I left the lab, my enthusiasm for photography dipped. But with the advent of digital and the cost being so inexpensive, I can go out and shoot all I want and it costs practically nothing.
