Making a good living as a photographer requires excellent marketing skills and business acumen. I would say that it’s 90% marketing/business and 10% photography.

Option #2 no question. For the $150 difference in price, you’re getting a much better machine. I also work in information technology full time.

I would suggest further testing indoors where you can control the lighting to confirm.

That is crap!! I have a 2 foot x 3 foot print on my wall and it is beautiful! You can view it from 6 inches and see no pixalation. I shot it many years ago with a Canon 10D with 8.1 megapixels. It is NOT about equipment!

I couldn’t agree more. Higher MP at this point is nothing more than a marketing ploy. The camera companies do it because they can and the numbers look good to sell more product. However, today’s cameras have improved dramatically regarding noise(iso) and dynamic range.

I would go with the XPS. The Alienware is a gaming machine.

I don't think the 60D has the horsepower to really produce a QUALITY
photograph of the size you want. Get a 5DSR.

If he sends the image in its highest resolution with little to no cropping to a quality lab, this should be no problem. I have a 24x36 canvas at home that was taken with a 6MP camera and it looks great.

So what makes a company a camera company? Cameras and camera lenses are only a small portion of Canon’s and Nikon’s revenues for example.

There is no best photo editing software and there is no standard.

If you want better quality pictures, you need to improve your skills. Upgrading your equipment doesn’t typically improve picture quality.

Only you can answer which is better for you. Find a local camera store and play with each model so you can make your decision.

SO, you would buy a 3 MP cause size does not matter?

Your question is irrelevant because none of the current models meet that spec.

I wouldn’t buy a camera anymore based upon its MP’s. There are other specs far more important. Manufacturers will keep increasing the MP count because of perceived value.

Both companies are much more than just camera companies. They’re both doing fine.

More MP is not a good reason to upgrade a camera. Dynamic range and better noise handling for example are good reasons to however.

High MP sensors are a bunch of marketing crap! It’s just a ploy to get you to buy a new camera every couple of years.
