Where is the support for Sony Cameras? Sony is not a camera company.

Gary Fong: From what I have seen he is the "Guru" for Sony.

Support for Sony everything repair, or how to get instructions on Sony Cameras? Firmware updates etc. Mr. Fong is a Sony camera pro adviser/instructor, whose videos I have seen on You Tube. Very qualified he is, regarding the use of Sony mirrorless cameras. Full frame and crop sensors.

I own and love 3 Sony cameras and was a Minolta owner back in the film days (Minolta sold it's technology rights to Sony).. Gary Friedman is indeed the guru for Sony and has written very thorough books for each sony camera model.. which take the mystery out of the menu settings. He also travels and runs photography seminars all around the country and the world..

Sony is primarily an electronics company, with an emphasis on consumer electronics. Headphones, tv's, computers, cameras.... Sony does it all.
Generally, I find most Sony products to be reliable. My 35-year old Sony Walkman still works great!

If you owned a Sony camera, you would find that support is readily available. Not a camera company? What does that mean and what does it have to do with the cameras they design and sell? What is your real problem?

As it looks like a camera
works like a camera
produces images like a camera

In my world my Sony SLTA65 is a camera.

The original poster lives in 'The New World' so his 'reality' might be different.
It is not that long ago that the inhabitants there thought photography 'stole their soul' so who knows

Not quite the case, Sony BOUGHT Minolta outright from the Konica/Minolta Co. strictly for the Minolta "A" lens mount as buying the entire company was less costly than developing and patenting their own mount. They then proceeded to entirely dismantle the Minolta organization and that is why the name does not carry on in any form today.

Sony is now primarily an entertainment company. The biggest part of its income is from gaming, movies, music and home entertainment. 'Imaging Products' is only 5% of its revenue.

Intelligence is a great thing, but if you don't use it, what good is it.
