Sony is large enough to have multiple sub-divisions that do their business well. Neither Nikon, Canon, Pentax, nor others large enough to have other competent sub-divisions, so far as I can tell.
For Sony support here in the USA Pacific Northwest the Sony area representative gives good support and frequently does classes and shows up at special sony event that camera stores host. I only have good things about Sony photography equipment and Sony Area Rep. Sean Knighten.
Two years ago I got a Sony NEX5n. 18 months later it totally fell apart. All I could get was a white screen. I called Sony, and they said it was out of warranty and I should send it to Precesion Camera and Lens for repair. They told me that parts are not available for this camera. Figuering I just got a lemon and having 3 emount lenses I decided to try another. (This time used from ebay) Now the metering system is failing and very erratic.
No more Sony for me.

That's funny, had the same thing happen to my Nikon d50, no more Nikon for me, all Sony's 5 of them to be exact never had a problem with any of them over 10 years with Sony.

I have nothing but high marks for Sony, Shutterbug Stores, and Sean Knighten.
My apologies if I am resurrecting a latent thread, but I Love Sony cameras. Have both the Alpha SLT A55V and NEX 5 and 7. All of them are wonderful instruments. Never had an issue with any of them and they have been taken all over the world.
Next one will likely be the Alpha A 6500 as the internal image stabilization will be a real plus.
Just wanted to put in my vote for Sony!

Where is the support for Sony Cameras? Sony is not a camera company.
Gary Fong: From what I have seen he is the "Guru" for Sony.
Is there a reason that you are asking this question? It seems quite random on its own. If there is something specific you wanted to know or learn, there are many Sony users here that I’m sure would be able to help you out!

Warrior has a bad case of Sony envy. He trots out this meaningless jab on a regular basis and has no interest in an answer.

i took this photo yesterday just to test light in the room as I am doing a Santa shoot next week. SOOC, no flash, a6500. I call that a camera!
I'm not disparaging the a6500, which I'm sure is a nice camera, but there is nothing special about the image you took in that venue that would make us go "wow" about that camera. I would expect any competent camera today to do as well in that amount of light.
Dont tell me that Sony is an electronics company. Anyone that works in professional studios or around
pro cinema jobs will see a lot of Sony gear. Canon also big in pro work. Years ago we had pro video decks
in the company my company and they were Sony's. Sony is big. Consumer and pro. What we all have to
realize that they are products from Japan which helps them all in developing product research etc.
The government their invested in the Toyota Prius development. I drove one of the first ones for a test
drive. I couldn't believe what it could do. My friend owned a dealership.
