So what makes a company a camera company? Cameras and camera lenses are only a small portion of Canon’s and Nikon’s revenues for example.

Good overall but their VAIO computers are garbage.

And you are qualified to make a generalized statement like this HOW?

Having owned two of those POS. Look for reviews around the net fanboy. Nice image....my Samsung Note 8 can do that too....with a much better focus also. Go figure. Your not doing Sony any favors, son.

Sony is now primarily an entertainment company. The biggest part of its income is from gaming, movies, music and home entertainment. 'Imaging Products' is only 5% of its revenue.

I completely forgot about the Sony entertainment business, you are indeed correct.

For sure one should READ before behaving like a clown and a mindless fanboy. Sony cameras are indeed good....their support has been under fire, if you are objective of course, and care to read reviews about it. My comment was directed at their bad....bad VAIO computers. Try to READ next time.

In my world my Sony SLTA65 is a camera.

The original poster lives in 'The New World' so his 'reality' might be different.
It is not that long ago that the inhabitants there thought photography 'stole their soul' so who knows

Nikonbug - the focus on this a6500 image looks great, especially after download! Don’t understand what others might have been complaining about, but seems they have other unrelated issues. Oh, well.

Like others here I've migrated from Minolta to Sony to Sony slt. I've had only one experience with Sony service (it was a problem I caused) and they were excellent.

Postings when you are in a poor mind set should not be done. It causes gastric distress for the readers.

I really don't understand this question. Canon is big in the printer and art printer business. And TV equipment.

With Sony I have had no problem downloading firmware updates and asking questions. They have a lot of information online
if you google it and read it. The other camera companies make good equipment. I was a Nikon guy for years.
But Sony has lead the tech and quality image business in recent years. Their mirrorless cameras are great instruments.
I have the a7s II an amazing camera. I think as far as repair all these companies are not what they used to be.

Their is a wealth of youtube and google videos on the good and bad of the cameras. And how to use them.
I also have their 10 bit PXW X-70 camcorder and I get raves for the video quality. And their RX10 III is an
thinking out-of-the-box invention. A bridge camera with 24-600 zeiss lens. Great video including 4k.

The reason why they are doing so well is price. Their cameras are not cheap but cheaper then most of the competition.
The Canon DSLR and lens are great but expensive. Nikon is high priced for DSLRs. And most of all the mirrorless
Sony's have made small cameras with very high quality IQ they are easier to travel with.

Good luck.

The problem is you applying logic and common sense over the usual non sense and completely absurd posts and threads here. LOL!

If you owned a Sony camera, you would find that support is readily available. Not a camera company? What does that mean and what does it have to do with the cameras they design and sell? What is your real problem?
