These are really good. Hard to get. I set up and waited at my feeder for hours only to have them come out as soon as I give up!!! Still love to watch them. They will be leaving soon :(

Can't remember where I heard this, but one trick is to just pull up a chair and let the Hummingbirds get used to your presence, eventually they feel secure enough to just go about their business ( of course, try not to make too many sudden moves).

There have been hundreds of Hummingbird photos on the site lately. No 1 stands out in my eye as being one of the more memorable. I like the flower and the detail in the bird. Nice Photo.

Thank you very much for the compliment. I have been working diligently to progress from snapshot to photograph. So, I guess it's true... practice, practice, practice. Learning some post processing doesn't hurt either!

My wife noticed an increase in HB activity in our front yard over the last few days; so I took the opportunity to kick back, enjoy Labor Day weekend and attempt to photograph the little darlings.

Thanks for looking and glad you liked them.If you went out of Tiverton it's not far from where we go,The next island in fact. I like going there as the boats are bigger so you can move around. No need of survival suits and a lot safer for equipment. Also a big plus is you can spend so time on top of the wheelhouse which is great to shoot down on them when close in. Ilive about two hours away.going to try and get out for an evening cruise as your more likely to see them breaching and the sunset can be awesome.
Thanks for looking and glad you liked them.If you ... (show quote)

Somebody in our group asked if there were sharks in the area. The only response by our captain was "Do you know what they call people in orange suits, bobbing in the water? - LURES!" Regardless, we had a great time.

Great shots, certainly captures the graceful dance of these marvelous creatures. Had a chance several weeks ago to go whale watching on zodiac inflatable boats out of Tiverton, Nova Scotia. We got to see plenty of dives and were also lucky enough to see one breach about 50 yards ahead of our boat :-D . Unfortunately, the breach was a total surprise so nobody got a picture :(.

Nice set . Love 'the couple'.

Thanks for the compliment. Seems I was getting the evil-eye while I was sneaking up to get a closer shot.

What! 10 days in NS and no photos of Peggys cove??

Well, I do have a few photos of Peggy's Cove. Of all the places we visited Peggy's Cove was the only place that was "touristy"- probably due to the 6 or 7 tour busses. Regardless of the humanity, the scenery was utterly spectacular!

wow awesome I love Bold Eagles, very hard to find around here, I need to plan a trip to some Park where I can take some pictures of them, Any suggestions, I live in Florida.

Thanks for the accolades. My wife is from Dubuque, Iowa which has a beautiful park on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River called Eagle Point Park. I have visited there several times and have yet to see an eagle. Thankfully, Bra D'OR Lake was teeming with these magnificent birds. Gregoryd45 has a good suggestion as to find eagles in Florida

Excellent pictures! I just got back from the Halifax area. I had seen a lot of eagles but not close enough to capture. Only went for one week but will definitely go back hopefully to the Cape Breton side.

Thank you! Cape Breton Island is a "must see". We crammed a 4 - 5 hour Cabot Trail road trip into 12. Every look-off offered a new spectacular view, so I just had to stop to snap a few.
