You just keep putting up stellar work. I love the stiff arm in #2 perfect timing I also have that lens ( 200-500 ) I think it's great for daylight shoots. Keep doing what you do.

Richard,

Did you use Topaz in your post processing? Your 1/1000 look good. I sometimes will shoot at 1/1250 but to keep the noise down on my 20MP sensor I have to shoot very tight with very little cropping. Thanks for sharing, I like the action.

Rick

Yes I did and in fact just before I started I got the newest Topaz AI. The 1st two shots came late in the 1st half which I was always on the far side of almost every play. The football gods sometimes seem to put me in that spot always to far away with a 70-200 lens. Second half was a little kinder. I am pleased with the action still being captured at 1/1000 I'm going to try dropping further and see how it goes. Thank you for your interest.

All stellar as usual # 4 stands out to me the most. I'm longing for a daylight shoot.

Those of you that have been following in my last post I said that I would be lowering my SS to keep ISO down a bit. All were shot with a D850, 70-200mm, F2.8 auto WB & ISO. Shutter speeds are posted with the photo.
Thanks for looking all comments are welcome.

I agree with the others on everything. Have you tried Topaz products I think you would see a world of difference.

2 weeks ago - shot JV and V games back to back along with the dance teams and cheerleading; 5 galleries on MP
Only shot second half JV and first half V - that was enough for me.

Nikon Z6, Nikon 300mm f2.8, monopod
everything shot at f2.8

daytime shots: ISO 100-1600, SS 1/1000 to 1/2500

evening/night shots: ISO 3200-8000, SS 1/1000 to 1/2000

Shot looser during day (and cropped) and tighter at night

Constructive criticism always welcome.

Great job on focus, exposure, timing.
To nitpick #1 & #7 backgrounds a little to busy for my taste. #2 remove the headlights. #3 tone down the hot spots. #4,5,6,9,10 perfect. #8 if you have more room above them I'd include it.

Again great job all the nitpicking is just my opinion for what it's worth. Keep doing what your doing.

Richard,
Nice set! Topaz denoise did a great job on the high iso (you probably wished your ss was lower for those 2). Do you shoot jpeg, raw or both? I find that my in camera (I use a Canon R6) noise reduction for jpegs is really really good at high iso, so I never shoot raw for sports. Rarely I use Topaz unless I have motion blur.

Rick

I shoot raw I still like to have all my options in post. Topaz is changing the way I think it's like starting the learning curve all over. The 4th photo the runner was on the move so even at such A high ISO Still got a good capture. The last one we got the ball back with enough time to take a knee twice I was heading for the exit I just dropped to a knee pulled off the lens cap and fired away. This week I'm going to start lowering SS. It's all a process thank you for your comments and questions on this post and others.

Still learning
Richard
