I love their voices. It's unlike any other bird on earth. As he is young, I expect you will have a friend for years to come. When raised in captivity, our crows can learn to speak clearly. Do you know if this applies to magpies?
I have no idea but the strings of flowers are quite beautiful! It will be interesting to see if someone can identify this.

Seriously the lighting is beautiful. These guys are plentiful but hard to get a shot this good of.
We lost so much of the Smokey Mountain National park as well as 14 lives last year.
Several were also badly burned but survived.
Two older teenagers were responsible for the fire. Seems they thought it was fun to flick lighted matches all over the woods in one of the worst droughts in our history. They are not being punished because they couldn't have understood the risk. Really.

Eastern screech owls can be either red or gray. I am a wildlife rehabber I Tennessee. I have had several of both colors over the years.

We went to Disneyland in 1966. We were rather broke but we saved up all of the
S&H Greenstamps we got for a long time and went for free with them. I believe that the 5 of us kids had green mouths for quite some time from licking those stamps!

This is at least a second year red tail. They don't get their red tail feathers in until the second year.

so well! I love the face of a barn owl. I raised 3 last year. I never tire of them. These are beautiful shots.

Barn owls are my favorite. They have the most amazing color and pattern in the feathers on their back and wings. Sadly, birds have hollow bones and they are quite hard to fix when fractured.
I'm glad these little guys are getting ready for release. Great capture!
