Young magpie on a wet day.

The weather was wet & miserable & this young maggie paid me a visit. He was sitting on a rail at my back door. I slowly opened the screen door & he just sat & talked to me while I took a few pics, only 2' away. I have attached an audio (MP3 file) recording of his chat . Downloading is recommended.

They are intelligent birds. If you were to hang a small container of mealworms on that rail, you may have many more interesting conversations?

He will eat out of my hand. I give him earthworms or small pieces of meat on occasions. Earl.
