HERE is a recent thread on SmugMug:
it included a comparison of SmugMug to Zenfolio.

And then there's THIS THREAD from Fred Miranda about SmugMug vs Flickr.

The comparison of SmugMug to Zenfolio is several years out of date and should not be relied on to see current differences between the two. Zenfolio has made many improvements (as I am sure SmugMug has) since this comparison was written.

Thanks
Im looking at begining using one. These 2 seemed like good choices.
Was wondering which are better.

Look at Zenfolio before deciding to use either one -- it's better than either one and easier to use.

I'm an amateur photographer and wish to move to RAW files for my photography. Suggestions on file viewing, storage, and photo manipulation, all suggestions appreciated.

I've been using ACDSee Pro for several years and am using Pro 18 -- they have several different software program depending on how much you want to do.

I second the suggestion of the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, which is 3/4 the way up on Cheyenne Mountain. It is a private zoo, and very, very well maintained. It is only about a mile away from the Broadmoor, and above it is the Will Rodgers shrine.

Ditto Cheyenne Mt. Zoo. It's a very unique and interactive zoo carved into the side of a mountain and even has it's own chairlift ride for getting from the bottom to the top of the mountain and vice versa with great aerial views of the surrounding forest and mountains.

I will be in Arizona in January. I will be in Phoenix, the Grand Canyon and Sedona, but have one time slot left. I am debating between Monument Valley and Canyon de Chelly. I've photographed in Monument Valley a number of times and it never gets old. On the other hand, I've never been to Canyon de Chelly. Can't do both on this trip and am interested in your opinions

Since you said you've been to Monument Valley "a number of times" and you have "never been to Canyon de Chelly," it should be a no-brainer that you do CDC instead of MV. Besides, I agree that it is more interesting and more photogenic.

Another thing you can do without having to make any brightness adjustments on your end is to select the option that Shutterfly has to enhance the quality of your prints (I assume Adorama has the same option). I turn that off when I have Shutterfly print anything because I know that what I send them will be what I get back and if I forget and leave that option turned on, prints are often too light.

If under 110 pages, Shutterfly is best -- I have tried many others but none compare with Shutterfly's print quality and customer service (if there is any problem they will redo at no charge until you are completely satisfied).

This is a great way to scan slides. It is fast, and you can capture in raw and edit. D7100 with nikon 28-105 in the macro mode with 60 watt daylight led bulb.

I do the same thing with a slide copier and bellows that I got for copying slides back in the 35mm film days (both Kodachrome and Ektachrome) instead of using any kind of scanner, and then I clean them up PP with my photo editing software (ACDSee) -- works great to digitize slides one at a time selecting ones that are worth keeping. Here's are a couple of photos of the setup I use and a sample of a digitized Kodachrome slide.

The 1st question and 1st part of answers should be whether you are using an ink jet or laser color printer because you cannot use ink jet papers for laser printers and vice versa without damaging the printer.

Great portrait, at least the 2/3 pictured -- why did you crop off the left side of her beautiful face?

Any preference for a photo book provider?
Typical cost for how many photos ?
Can you get multiple copies of the book?
Do you send photos in the order you want them to a share file site?
Thanks to all who respond.

If fewer than 110 pages, Shutterfly hands down is the best IMHO for print quality, ease of design, flexible layouts and customer service (reprints are free if there is anything you don't like) -- I have used at least a half dozen providers and have had many, many books done by Shutterfly (their only downside is a 110-page limitation). As for your questions: no difference in cost regarding how many photos you use--books are priced based on number of pages and you can put as many photos as you want on a page; multiple copies are available from every provider; no you don't have to upload photos in any particular order--you just upload either at one time or as you go and then arrange them in any order you want.
