Any preference for a photo book provider?
Typical cost for how many photos ?
Can you get multiple copies of the book?
Do you send photos in the order you want them to a share file site?
Thanks to all who respond.

Since I'm a LR user they have Book function built in and it uses Blurb. I've done two personal books so far and very pleased. Working on another that will be commercial.

Cost depends on size of book, number of pages, soft/hard cover, cover jacket. You can order one or a zillion and there are discounts for volume. Blurb also offers a store option. If the book is to be sold, you set the price(to include the print cost and your profit). People order the book and you only have to market where one goes to get the book.

Any tool you use, you put the photos in order and the number on page, text, no text, etc, etc. They all offer a set of templates so there is a learning curve. There are many web based book tools like snapfish...

Blurb... You can create in, and export directly from, Lightroom. You choose layout. Book style, type, size, etc. all dictate price. You can make one or many, your choice. And, you can reorder, if needed.

Use Photobooks. It has website links by country.
Pro's : cheap - always a 50-70% off sale. Groupons are even cheaper. 40pg image wrap can be $18 cndn + tax. Shipping is around $13cndn. You can download a photobook designer program so you can do the book on your desktop instead of the website.

Con's: not obvious how to upload your book as the program interacts with the website and you not always obvious what's going in. Website is sometimes difficult to navigate in general. Customer service is TERRIBLE. If you dont have an issue...its fast and cheap and decent quality (pay the extra $7 and get the upgraded paper.)

Vistaprint customer service is excellent.

Have not tried their professional level books and probably will never due to the customer service issues. If I pay 500plus for a wedding album, I want the customer service to be there for me if there is a problem. Fast and cheap, I can accept a few glitches

I have always liked Shutterfly. Easy to use. Upload your photos and put them in any order, 1 to many on a page (no limit on total photos - you pay by the page). Quality is excellent. I used to put together books of people I worked with and we would chip in to give one to whoever was leaving the team at some point. They were liked enough that we put together a final one that most people bought before we all were gone!

I have used Shutterfly on multiple occasions. They do a beautiful job with high quality paper and image reproduction. They frequently have 40% off deals. They have an upload and cropping tool so you can position yuor photos the way you like them. I have also made calendars with them for the family after a family reunion = those were well received..

Those may scoff, but for quick and low cost - Walgreen's Photo does an awesome job. A hardbound 20 picture book in around an hour? Yes! $40 - half sometimes with coupons.

I have tried out two companies...........Bay Photo (when they have a special on), and Adorama Pix. Both I have been pleased with. The books I have had done are not lengthy, more like coffee table books, up to maybe 20 pages. Bay Photo probably does the most professional looking product. Both treat pictures well.

For a lengthy book, I would probably go with blurb. I have a friend who used them and his 200+ pages look ok. He also wrote more than I did on my pages. Both of these companies I have used have easy to use software and after importing the images, I was able to place them in order of my choice, including front and back covers.

The books are available for purchase by others on their website.........same price I paid as far as I know.

Cost of both dependent on number of pages, size, and bindings. I usually wait until there is a special offered.

Shutterfly. Easy to use website. My suggestion, build your book according to directions and save it on their site. Then wait for them to have a sale on the album.

😀😀 I have used Shutterfly for about a dozen books - great quality with complete control over design.

I like Adorama Pix. Lots of choices on paper, layout, and number of pages that all influence price. You can upload some images and test layouts but not pay anything until you order. I have always been pleased with the product and the company.

I have used Blurb, Adorama Pix, Zino and if you are a professional wedding photographer ..Album Epoca. All do amazing jobs. Frequently Zino will provide a free book off your cell phone images (5x5 or 8x8) so you can get an idea of their quality. I have used Shutterfly, but feel the above publishing companies use better quality paper and produce better quality books. Check them out for yourself and you decide which you prefer.

We've settled mainly on Shutterfly. Waiting for a sale, prices are excellent and the results are good. Did a couple of Blurbs a while ago and didn't like the non-availability of glossier heavy papers (at least for layflat).

Hello. I am very much a novice in this area; however, I did make one book using Shutterfly. Their templates were easy to use and permitted the tweaking necessary for the desired effect. The book looks professional with it's hard cover and the paper is good quality. They did make one mistake in that they adjusted my photos which I had specifically requested them not to do. They were quick to resolve this problem, reprinted my book and shipped it to me right away. My friends were very impressed and to date, about 8 copies have been printed. Good luck with yours!
