Nice images. It was the best job in the world for 40 years. No complaints about the two images with the "dirty" gloves because they were working. Looked like a interesting belly case in #2. I swear I could hear the "Beeps" and smell the Bovie while looking at them. Thanks for taking me back.

I'm from NC also. Burr is a lowlife and Tillis is no better.

Having dealt with both of them I can say I'm not a fan of either one. The best part of dealing with Burr was the betting if he was going to show up wearing socks. (IIRC it was only once)

About image #3 and that glass water jug...
"Alex, I'll take antique bedside urinal for $200." They're made of plastic now. However, but back in the day before the 'fun police' came to the hospitals there was always someone who'd get one from sterile supply and use it as a mug at the Christmas party. (Had a spill proof lid so it could be taken to go... pun intended)

People stopped reading manuals, not that they read them much before, but if you did, you had a fighting chance of understanding that auto exposure was not a panacea.

I "sealed the deal" an AE-1 during an OR case in ~80-81 to go with my trusty F1. IIRC the AE-1 had a "real" manual and a second comic book type "let's get started" instruction sheet. I liked that idea from the standpoint if one had gotten that camera for a gift there was quick and dirty instructions to get you started. I kinda wondered if the that thick lil book that 'spalined it all was opened. You answered my question.
On a somewhat unrelated note, I'd never seen a rig like that to keep from losing a lens cap.

Aunt Lovee? OMG, we're related! I'll have to tell Uncle Ned when I visit him at the "Big House." He always said she was the the one that got away..

That's because 'Uncle' determined you weren't a tourist.

Moving is miserable, you might as well have everything you own randomly packed in boxes by idiots. There are things I still haven't found. One Nimrod packed my office wastebasket, still full. Thankful it wasn't the kitchen garbage!

Military packers/movers? Oh the joy of a fully loaded kitchen trashcan, damp bath towels, an ashtray, complete with ashes and the list goes on. Sure put the fun in dysfunctional when unpacking.

#3 is good with the cloud. I've driven over the bridge and didn't dare try to look down.

They have a tour where you get to walk the catwalk underneath the bridge. I'm guessing your money is safe riding with you in your car.

Nice images. I think #6 may have an "issue" though.

Sorry, just saw this.

The date was NOT given by Beaumont Newhall, rather Newhall had an astro Physicist using the then state of the art computer and sightings for the then moon position to come up with the 'date'.

You're correct, my bad. Beaumont was the first to bring up the "when" question and went to "pros" for an answer. Still a great image (and from I remember from a Sexton lecture a real bear to print).

Wonderful image. I passed an original of this frequently while I was in school. However, a guy by the name of Di Cicco determined that Beaumont Newhall was off on his calculation for the date by a day. It seems it was actually taken on 1 November 1941. Back when it was first announced (maybe late 80's) I don't remember the publication but it but it was a huge write up a la the trial in Alice's Restaurant, "with twenty seven eight-by-ten color glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against it. Took pictures of the approach, the getaway, the northwest corner the southwest corner and that's not to mention the aerial photography." Way technical, and I guess it confirmed the official date/time. IMO I don't think anyone is going to make the effort to change the date on any further publication.
