Great images. I just upgraded to an iPhone 8+. Are you aware of the Tiny Shutter Podcasts? They have a Facebook page, an Instagram feed too at #tinyshutter Great source for iPhone photography info.

I think if you go to the canon website you’ll find a profile under the canon pro-100 support area. There may even be a selection for HP paper on the Canon print driver. If not you can find a profile from Precision Color ink website that’s for their refill ink, but it will get you pretty close.

My solution is to just turn it off, no power, no cleaning cycles, until I power up for my couple of times a month printing sessions.
. That is a possibility. When you turn the printer off and on again it does go through a purge/clean cycle. You also risk with any inkjet that if it goes unused for an extended length of time, (I don’t know how long) the heads can become clogged. Though the Canon printers seem less prone to clogging than Epson printers.

I’ve been using Precision Color ink in my Pro-100 for a year. After the initial cost of the refill kit, subsequent refills are much cheaper because you’re only buying the ink. The largest cost of the refill kit is the chip resetter.

When Canon has there sale where you get literally $100’s of dollar worth of paper when buying Canon ink. You get the most paper by buying the inks 2 colors at a time instead of buying the complete set at once. This also gives you another set of eventual empty OEM Canon cartridges.

Another thing to be aware of is the auto purge/cleaning cycle of the Canon Pro-10 /-100 printers every 60 hours if no printing occurs. I learned the hard way that my ink supply kept going down without me even printing. So it’s best to either print something before the 60 hours or run a Nozzle Check which doesn’t use much ink and avoids the cleaning cycle. This can be set up automatically using the software package Q-Image. I learned all of this from Jose Rodriguez who runs a very active YouTube channel & a Facebook group on Inkjet Printing mainly concentrated on Canon & Epson Photo Printers.

The first thing that comes to mind for me, besides what a waste is this is the result of Central Planning by a Communist country. Trying to clean their polluted air and employ millions of young workers. I’d say they have the ability to overproduce steel, rubber, bikes, anything they want and put western manufacturers out of business.

While past history has proven that import tariffs don’t work. The United States must have a Steel, Aluminum, and manufacturing base in case of a war. We won WWII with incredible fighting men & women and the ability to produce Tanks, Planes, Ships at unheard of amounts. Faster than the Axis could destroy them. IMHO.

And I agree with others, I’d not be surprised to see a dumping of cheap bikes here and the rest of the world.

Forget the question on the “L” bracket. I went to YouTube and got my answer. I do have a question, do they require me to purchase 2 quick release plates, one for each side of the “L” ?

As a portrait photographer who worked in studio and out in the field I liked the quick adjustments of their pistol grip ball heads. But even when using a relatively light DSLR with a short zoom it lost its grip after not too much use. You can tighten the tension but it then becomes a bear to squeeze, especially for my wife.

Someone a few posts back mentioned using one of these with an “L” bracket for balance. Could you explain that further, maybe add a picture.

I have a small Flip bracket that connects to a tripod or mono pod an allows you to easily flip the camera orientation.

In our studio when we were using a heavy Mamiya RZII outfit with power drive, AEII Prism, and a 100-210 zoom we used a heavy duty Studio Stand with a Bogen 3-Way tilt Pan head. I loved the stability and the ease of going from 1’ up to 7’ with a counter-balanced column. Really beats messing with tripod legs in a studio.

Any way I could use pigment inks in my pro 100?

No you can’t, different heads and more. The Pro-100 has 8 inks and the Pro-10 uses 10 inks. Pigment & dye are very different.

The basic printers are quite similar but if it were a car it like one is gas the other diesel.

If you check the printer forum this is covered probably once a week. That said if you do buy a Canon Pro printer I recommend 3 sources.

1) There is an excellent community on Facebook led by printer expert Jose Rodriguez aka JToolman. You’ll find lots of support for Canon & Epson Printers. 2) Jose Rodriguez has 100’s of YouTube Videos explaining uses, maintenance, & support of what he calls Photo & Fine Art Printers. He especially talks about refilling the cartridges with third party inks from 3) Precision Color Inks. They provide compatible inks and refilling kits that are considered to be The Most compatible. They provide custom ICC profiles for their inks with most papers, especially Red River Paper.

If you haven’t purchased yet consider the Pro-10 which is the Pigment Ink version of Canon’s 13” wide carriage printers. The Pigment Inks last longer than the dye inks of the Pro-100. With sales they can be had for close to the same price as the Pro-100.

The only thing I can think of is Forensic Photographers like for police work have a reference piece that’s “L” shaped like a 90 degree corner with rule measurements on each side and a varying gray scale from white to black. Maybe you can find one online. Would that help? It provides a consistent reference in the picture next to your item.

Very cute and the quality has held up well. My first digital camera was an Olympus C-3000. Cost around $329 new. It was a 3.3MP camera with the semi pro feature of the ability to sync an external flash. Because of that I used it for quick turn headshots and as a digital Polaroid in our studio. I also got many great pictures while exploring abandoned coal mines with a Nikon SB-23 flash attached to a flip bracket.

Your daughter is Very Cute. My Brother in law still uses a 1.2MP Olympus point & shoot to shoot items for Ebay.

It appears you are set on an android phone, and that’s understandable. You can really customize the OS much more than an iPhone.

I just upgraded from a very well worn iPhone 5 to an iPhone 8 Plus. I’ve been very happy with the results. The camera is very close to that of the iPhone X with the exception the 2nd lens on the X is slightly faster and has I.S. Only the wide angle lens on the 8+ has I.S. With the Camera+ app I can shoot manual and save in RAW. I thought about getting a simpler phone like an iPhone SE and a Canon G SERIES pocket camera. But then I’m carrying 2 items. I know have a decent camera always with me that I can also immediately edit using apps including Adobe PSE & LR and immediately share and or upload to Social Media or UGHH. The HDR function is very good on my iPhone, as is the Panoramic & Video capture.

An added bonus was AT&T was running a BOGO Offer. So my wife and I were both able to get an iPhone 8+ for the cost of 1. The DXO score of the 8+, X, Samsung 8, & Google 2 were within a few points of each other.
