In 2014 I took a 2 week tour in a small group of 7 women and our male guide & driver. The camera was a D7000 with a 18-200mm lens. That was all I needed in a varied locations. Two point & shoot cameras in the group failed from sand. My lens never came off the camera! Morocco is a wonderful and safe country to visit. The people are varied and pleasant when you engage in a conversation.

The easy way down!

[quote=DIRTY HARRY]1957 Sandwich Menu from Woolworths....

If anyone doubts what we paid for a coke and a sandwich at Woolworths
in the 1950s, here's proof of the era we lived in.

I well remember those days! The corner drugstore had similar prices at their soda fountain.

In fact my family tells me that back in the late thirties they would take me into Woolworths. If they forgot to watch me closely, I would go up by the front door where there were three or four rows of push button switches. It was fun to push each and every one thus turning off all the lights! Those lights were hanging white "school room" fixtures.

I want to scan my old 35mm slides and multiple format film negatives. Does anyone know of an instrument that will do both? I tried doing that on my copier/scanner with poor results.

I bought a Wolverine F2D Mighty film to digital converter. I have played with it to see if it works but not gotten into the big chore of my slides. They are at www.wolverinedata.com . It has a 20 megapixel camera inside, records to a SDHC card. It has a TV jack out for big screen viewing as well as a 2.4 color screen. They have another model that copies photos. It is ALWAYS better to scan a negative than a print!!!!!!

I was at Victoria Falls in June. Hard to take good pictures from the ground. I suggest going on a helicopter and using a telephoto lens. There are a few helicopter rides available

I was there in 2006 and there was and took an ultra lite aircraft ride. I was well strapped in but hung my upper body and camera outside. I had a Panasonic DMC-F27 point & shoot camera (an oldie but goodie). 10.5mm (63mm 35 equivalent), 1/125sec, f5.6, iso 150 from the EXIF file.

There was a water shortage at that time so the falls were not in their glory!

I have read most of the answers here with amusement. IMHO some are almost correct but leave out the most important step about lighting. I learned the proper way when I was photographing animation cells way back in the 1950's!

Yes a good flat subject area with the camera absolutely normal is the first step. Lights at 45 degrees to the subject, back far enough so the area is evenly illuminated. Then place a polarizing gel filter in front of each light, making sure the polarizing angle is the same. Use a polarizing filter on the lens. Rotate to reduce any specular reflection from the subject. The first time you observe the effect of polarizing light will amaze you. This works well for uneven surfaces like oil paintings. Yes, these do cut down on the light so a sturdier camera support is a necessity. Use only one color light source and match that color temperature to your camera.

Use Google to find polarizing material.

Back 2010 in Linz, Austria I was in a public mall and took a picture of a guy "palm reading" a girls hand. The first picture was taken from a distance. Later I went up to them to talk, both were conversant in English. I showed them the picture! They thought I could get a better one if they "posed" for it. I then took the second one. Moral of the story is how you interact with the subject.

I have almost decided to spring for a D850. I would trade my D800 in. My question which of the "Big Three or other" camera stores is likely to offer the highest trade in value? I have spent more money over the past years at one of the two biggies, if that may be reason to chose it. shutter count is 3956! I use my D750 more.

At a Halloween show of a group of dancers I took a few pictures. These are taken under a very dim stage lighting. I feel lucky that I got a few keepers. The costumes were spectacular as was the dancing.

UPDATE
Called Nikon repair. I tried another Nikon lens, same. Tried a third Nikon lens and everything worked ! ! ! went back to my Tamron lens, it also worked ! ! !
So what is the difference? Maybe the contacts were a not clean. The insertions may have wiped them clean. Who knows.
I bought the D750 in Dec 2014 (I think). I've been very careful when changing lenses, have never cleaned or blown out the interior. Still have do not have "dirt" marks in my photos!
If any are interested, my latest pix are on FaceBook. Search for Johanna James. These are all under stage lighting for Halloween effects. I feel lucky to have gotten the results I did.

Maybe it's time to give up on my camera, a D750 with a Tamron 24-70 f2.8 lens. I keep getting an error message, even after a hard reset by pulling the battery. I have gone through all camera settings to factory default. Lens & body set to AF.
In the past when doing video the auto focus has been "soft". At first I thought it was my eyes but in editing on the big screen I was very disappointed.
Perhaps a trip to the factory repair is in order. Maybe I need to check to see if all updates are in place. Has anyone had similar problems?
