Creating a fantasy "look" from a normal photo

Being that I am an artist FIRST and a photographer second, I love to explore creative alternatives with my photos. Here is Creating a fantasy "look" from a normal photo in Photoshop. I'm attaching the first photo as the "after" version and the second photo as the "original". I think when you look at the first photo in download mode, it almost has an illustrator quality about it. This is a good series for downloading.

Good results.
I found that going for the magazine illustrator painting look can save wildlife photos where the focus was just a hair off. People don't expect to count the veins in the feathers in a "painting".
