I'm trying to learn the art of a taking a sharp picture by using a flower. Notice the core around the center is not sharp. I've tried adjusting my aperture from 4.0 (lowest possible) to 8.0 with little change. I'm using a very good tripod and a remote trigger. Is it the color, the light, I really do not know. I've played with Nikon Capture and was not able to improve it. I'm using a Nikon D750 with a 24 - 120mm f/4.0 lens. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not a pro; but in using my 750 for the last two days, I've found my depth of field to be better. In one picture of a rose, where I spot focused on the core, the outer pedals were starting to blur so I had to change my aperture from f/4 to f/4.5 to correct the image. I never had that control on my D7000.

I'm have never used an 810 so I could not comment. It cost a $1000.00 more and from what I could see it only offered more pixels. The 750 had the same auto focus and if I remember correctly, the same ISO ratings. I'm sure in some instance cropping could be a factor; but I didn't think it would really make a significant difference. I'm not a professional and I want/demand sharp images. The 750 has more than met my expectations. In my case, I couldn't justify the extra cost of the 810.

Just bought the Nikon D750 and I am in amazed at the difference between that and my old D7000. This is my first full frame digital camera. I was originally going to upgrade all my lenses to f/2.8 for low light. Couldn't afford the cost. I saw the Nikon D750 with a kit lens on sale for a $1000.00 off and bought it. The quality and auto-focus is simply amazing. In my opinion, the ISO range eliminates the need for the faster lenses. The only thing I don't like is that when you take a picture the camera makes a tinny sound; but the pictures are perfect. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for your input. I bought the camera from B&H also. I know "mistakes" happen; I just want to be sure it doesn't happen to me.

I just purchased a new Nikon D750. Nikon does not seal it's boxes. When I purchased my Nikon D7000 I did something to determine the number of times the shutter was released. I don't remember what I did and I was hoping that someone could refresh my memory. I bought the camera from a very reputable store; but I want to make sure it is new. Any help would certainly be appreciated.

I just checked on my Nikon D7000. It focuses manually but the image is much darker with the battery removed.

I would call whatever equipment manufacture she is currently using and explain the situation to them and ask for recommendations. If she is using Nikon and they can't help, then call Canon and visa versa.

This is a picture that I took today with my Nikor 70-300mm VR. This is a very good lens.

Tony, I have the Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR. My base is the Nikon D7000. It is a good lens. I have taken many wonderful shots of birds and wildlife with it. I'm at a point where I am upgrading to f/2.8 lenses; but if that is what your budget allows, then I would recommend the lens. When I first bought it that was all I could afford. My wife and family say that upgrading is not necessary. They are right it is not necessary; but better glass before a new camera. Good luck with your decision.

I'm a NYer and this summer I took a walking tour with family in Manhattan. I had two lenses a 24-120mm and a 70-300. I was very satisfied with the 24-120 95% of the time. There are some sconces on some buildings that the 70-300 was nice; but not necessary. I think a zoom is much better than a prime, my opinion.

Virtually all Americans agree that there is a right to bear arms; but the point of dissent is: Do Americans need assault riles like the AK 47? In my head and heart the answer is no they do not. There is a need for gun control; not the removal of all weapons; but definitely the removal of any weapon that has the ability to k**l many people with one large clip.

Your help and support are very much appreciated. Still going up the learning curve; but I'm more confident. Thanks again.

Thanks for the input. Yes I am aware that the SB 800 can be used as a slave with the pop up flash; but i have not figured out how to control the strength of the flash in that mode.

I'm in the process of upgrading my lenses for my Nikon D7000. I'm looking at two options that cost approximately the same. (1) Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 VC + Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 VC + Tamron 160-600 f/5.XX-6.XX or (2) Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 VR + Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VRII. I am not a professional; but I do want sharp and crisp pictures and the ability to shoot in low light. I realize that he Tamron 160-600 is not good in low light. My interests include wildlife, nature, landscape and family. I shoot about 5-10K pictures a year. So I am not a newbee. Clearly Nikon lenses are better; but are they that much better. I can get the Tamron 160-600 in addition to f/2.8 lenses. I'm leaning toward Tamron but I'm not sure? $5,000.00 dollars is a lot of money to invest in lenses and I don't want to be sorry.
