Thank you to everyone who replied. I have two trips coming up and need to keep my load light, I believe I will take the plunge.
Anybody out there using this lens? Thinking of buying one as my primary walk around on a D750. Input appreciated!
Here's a few shots I took at a practice in Pensacola. NIkon D750, Auto Iso, Program. I did shoot some in Manual mode, but after a few minutes I decided I wanted to watch the show as much as I wanted pictures, and the camera is faster than I am! If I was to lock down ISO it would be at least 400.
I have two, one for winter and one three season. Wouldn't trade either of them. In addition to being comfortable, and easy to clean, they float. Occasionally handy on the water!
I still have and frequently carry my F4S along with my D750. I just love shooting with it, especially with 2.8 80-200 zoom. Have to keep working out, it is a heavy combo!
Not sure if this could be an option for you in the future, but I got the optional battery grip for my Nikon D750 because it will take AA batteries in a pinch.
Way back in the film days the general thought was Canon makes the best body, Nikon makes the best glass, and Minolta the best compromise. A lot of that older glass Nikon glass is awesome.
I just got a D750. My carry lenses are an f2.8 80-200ED and an f3.3-4.5 30-70 and am quite satisfied. Both work flawlessly. You can probably find both used for under $500. I saw a recent listing for a 2.8 35-70 for $300.
I have an older 70-200 2.8, no VR. Still my favorite for action shots.
Falsely imprisoned on the basis of race sounds like mistreatment to me. Let's just say they weren't physically tortured.
I still shoot regularly with my Nikon F4 and a 2.8 70-210.
New reader, first posting. I am now convinced digital is here to stay and am prepared to semi-retire my Nikon F4S. I have a number of lenses, mostly shoot outdoors with my 2.8 70-210. Landscape, wildlife, and sports are all in the mix. I was prepared to go with a D7100 but am becoming concerned about dropping from FX to DX. A D610 or even D800 is not out of range price wise. Any thoughts/recommendations are appreciated.
