Anybody out there using this lens? Thinking of buying one as my primary walk around on a D750. Input appreciated!

Many UHHers have and like this lens (self included). I note Nat Geo photographer Joel Sartore uses it in his videos and Bryan Peterson on many images.

Some will defame it for image quality but I find it fine on my D800.

You might check what DXOMark says about it. Be sure to check tests with your camera because their lens evaluations are strongly affected by the camera. You'll see it does not compare to primes or lesser range zooms (e.g. 70-300). But it is good enough and in some situations the flexibility is most important.

I believe there are now similar range Sigma and Tamron lenses. Be sure to verify they are also FX if you look at them.

I use mine with the D7200, D500, D810 and Nikon 1 V3 and get good results. It is my go to walk-about lens.

The 28-300mm is perhaps one of the more popular FX lenses on this forum. And it can be used with good results on DX cameras in the D7xxx series.

It can be used with any Nikon camera. I frequently use mine on my D5300.

If you only have a DX camera the 18-300 is a better choice and somewhat cheaper. Better because of the wide angle end. It is the only lens my wife uses on her D5300.

We have two. They are our "standard" walking around lenses. Have used them for years. Currently used with D800e and D5 but have been on many of our full frame bodies over the years. Good, general purpose lens.

I prefer the 24-120 F4.0 for my walkabout lens. Obviously its telephoto range is limited, but the IQ is great.

After my heart attack, I traded in some of my lenses for the Nikon 28-300 in order to lighten the load I was carrying. Despite the fact that it is a heavy lens, it did in fact lighten the load. I think the lens is a tad bit soft, but nothing that can not be corrected and, let's face it, I am not exactly submitting my photos to National Geographic. I especially like the lens because I no longer have to take the time to switch lenses. I would recommend the lens. Hope this helps.

I have a D750 and the 28-300 is my primary walking-around-lens. Love it!!!

I also have the 24-120, the 70-200 f/2.8 and the 80-400. Use them all, but the 28-300 is my primary lens to use when I want to travel light and not have to change lenses while out. The Image Quality (IQ) is outstanding.

I have one and although it is heavy and hard to lug around for a full day shot the good news you can sale all your other lens. I shoot everything with this and great images. Great walk around lens. Very under rated lens. Best lens I have, never leave home without it.
