I had one friend who complained about her eyes always being closed when camera flash is used. I had read just before about some people being very sensitive to the pre-flash which triggers an auto response of closing their eyes. We tested it out on her and the pre-flash did it every time so I went to manual flash so there was no pre-flash. In this case it solved the problem.

There are 2 simple options: forget about 8x10, it is more expensive but you can buy different size frame kits. You buy the horizontal and vertical legs separately so you can pretty much get any aspect ration you want. The other is use matting to get the aspect ratio you want. This does reduce the image to be smaller than the frame but you save the composition.

Here is an in-depth article on ISO from DPREVIEW. It seems cranking up the ISO on camera is not quite what I thought it was. I was under the impression that increasing the ISO was somehow making the sensor more sensitive (I thought by increase current, I do know.). But it appears just collects the same amount of light that hits it regardless of ISO and it's in the processing. This means that ISO invariant sensors you can just as well underexpose if you need to keep the shutter speed high and post-process it to desired lightness. I think I'll re-read this because I read it quickly and missed a lot. So if I got this wrong feel free to correct but gently so I can hear you, I tend to ignore angry internet anonymity.

I shoot with several cameras but I always use my DAM program to download images so it accounts for them during download. It doesn't matter what camera I use I place the images into a "Temp" folder with the download date automatically assigned. Then I cull them, tag them if I want, rename the folder to something consistent with my particular folder organization scheme. I organize by folder structure as a base starting point then use my DAM program to do all the other organizational stuff it's capable of. I use ACDsee which sees the hard drive just like Windows Explorer with no importing required, very straight forward and non confusing. But in order for it to keep track of the digital assets it should be use it to download, delete, rename, move, all the file management stuff just like any other DAM program requires.

I have a D-600 (same as 610) and D750 same great image quality but the focus is much better on the 750 especially in low light. If she has full-frame lenses the 750 is a great camera for people and squirmy kids. I just recently got a new Dx D-7500 and it's also a very nice camera maybe even better focus than the 750. If she has good Dx lenses that might be a good option. I have read that the focus on the very nice Z cameras may not be quite as fast as the dslrs are right now. That might be a consideration with photographing children, but I can't speak from first-hand experience.

From time to time I shoot friends weddings and other events and I notice that my vertical or portrait shots are not all that vertical while my landscapes only need a slight straightening in post. For those of you who use vertical battery grips, does it help keep things level when shooting fast and other than extra battery life what are other advantages?

Hi Ched49, I'm glad you saw my poor attempt at humor in my response, many times my wife does not, but I think it's because she's married to me. And you are absolutely correct we Hoggers can get way off track, but I thought it was part of our sworn duty when we signed up. My apologies to anyone if it didn't come off as funny as it sounded in my head.

What the hell are we talking about here...NASCAR dragster's and 70's Volkswagon's? Did anybody stop and think the Poster might have a money issue? The poster's going to pay at least $1000. more for the D750.

Holy Shmoly now you are just getting cranky, real it in buddy. $1000 are you sure? Anyway I said the 600/610 is a great camera the same image quality as the 750 only less good in low light focus. Let's go to blows, this is a camera model we're talking about, put-um-up.

A poster ask's a question about a specific camera, and the poster get's bombarded with different cameras (D750) to buy instead of the D610. roy4711...do yourself a favor, don't listen to most of the comments posted here, the oil spots you heard about were on the D600, not the D610. You will hear pro's and con's about any camera that's on the market, if you like the D610 (it is a fine camera) then buy it.

Hang on here, points of reference are useful. Is the car fast? Compared to what a NASCAR dragster or a 70's Volkswagon? The 610 is a good camera but it has poor low light focus. If you need good low light focus there are better cameras like the 750.

I own both the D600 (almost identical to 610) and D750. Both have the same excellent image quality. I prefer the grip of the 600 but most prefer the 750. The main difference is the low light focusing of the 750 is quite a bit better. For events in low light where you won't get a second chance, I'd go with the 750 without hesitation.

The average citizen is estimated to pay half of their income on taxes either direct or indirect. Many folks do not realize that the individual pays for corporate tax as well, it's just rolled into the cost of goods and services as it should be, that's the way it works. So when they talk about taxing Wall Street to pay for people's personal debt I alway moan there goes my retirement and all that investment money that fuels the economy. I feel it's just pandering to buy votes. If I was running for office I'd campaign on mortgage and credit card forgiveness as well as free education, medical care, transportation, and vacations. Oh, and BEER!

I own the D300 and it's big and heavy like the D500 very good camera though, also own the D750 the FF glass is big and heavy but I love it, recently purchased the D7500 with the 16-80 really nice combo, lighter than the D750 / 24-120. I would have considered the D7200 if it was offered with the 16-80 as a kit. D7200, D7500 either one you can't go wrong, I'm very happy with the D7500 / 16/80 combo.

You will find question after question here on UHH about Lightroom in part because so many people use it but also because Adobe has a talent for overcomplicating the simple. I've used ACDSee for years and years because it's simple, fast and yet very effective at photo management, RAW processing and even pixel editing. This is not a bash at all on Adobe (except the overcomplicating part) but I really appreciate the value that ACDSee brings to my workflow.

Yes, the 600 was frustrating for sure. No matter how much I had it cleaned, it recurred. Now, with the 610, it appears to be right back with the same issue. I may ask Nikon to trade for a 750 as I've heard nothing but good about them. Love the 600 series, but tired of sending for cleaning and/or editing spots.
Thanks!

I also own the D750, very similar image quality (I think it has the same sensor) but the 750 has much better low light focusing performance.

I own the D-600 which had the issue pretty bad, at first I just cleaned the sensor as often as I needed to. Then it exploded on the internet so after that, I just cleaned the sensor as often as I need too. It eventually went away but I still sent it in for a shutter replacement for resale value. So my suggestion is, you have to clean sensors periodically anyway pay no attention to internet explosions and clean the sensor and keep shooting.
